The marathon, which ran through hours typically occupied by programming from the block Nick@Nite, consisted of 100 SpongeBob episodes that were pre-chosen by the viewers themselves. After 99 episodes, the episode Best Day Ever premiered, followed by the number 1 episode of the marathon (Karate Island), then the television premiere of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. SpongeBob voice actor Tom Kenny, in character as Patchy the Pirate, hosted the marathon and went to countries and cities around the world.
