This is a list of appearances of the character Gary the Snail in the first eight seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants. In total, Gary has appeared in over hundreds of SpongeBob-related products. On the main series, he has appeared in some form in a grand total of 194 (not counting Welcome to Binary Bottom) episodes so far.

Bold means Gary was the main character of and/or played a major role in that episode.

Italic means Gary appears in a feature-length movie, a book, a video game, or a musical. It is also used for the titles of television shows that he appears in.

Episodes where Gary cameos, appears in a deleted scene, appears as an entirely different character not related to him or appears in a time card or title card, as well as episodes where only his voice is heard, also count. However, episodes where he is an entirely different character that is nonetheless related to him (e.g. Robot Gary in "Welcome to Binary Bottom") do not count on this page. Exceptions to this rule are if both Gary himself and an entirely different character that’s nonetheless related to him appear in the same episode or episodes that parody fairy tales, whereupon the characters essentially "play" otherwise entirely different characters (e.g. Snow Yellow and the Seven Jellies).

4		Naughty Nautical Neighbors	Squidward separates SpongeBob and Patrick, so they can’t get on his nerves anymore. But now they want to be his friend and he gets the contrary of his idea.
		Boating School	SpongeBob fails the boat exam. Patrick helps him cheat, but SpongeBob doesn’t know that he’s cheating and then he still fails his exam.
5		Home Sweet Pineapple	SpongeBob’s house is gone. So his parents are coming...
6		Pickles	SpongeBob loses his confidence because of Bubble Bass. He also loses his mind!!!
7		Jellyfish Jam	Jellyfishes make a party in SpongeBob’s house. This is very bad.
8		Sandy’s Rocket	SpongeBob and Patrick take Sandy’s rocket to what they think is the moon, but they’re still in Bikini Bottom. Trouble endues when they capture all the citizens, thinking they’re aliens.
		Squeaky Boots	Mr. Krabs gives SpongeBob a pair of boots, but Mr. Krabs become mad because of their squeaky sound and eats them.
9		Nature Pants	SpongeBob tries to live with the Jellyfish in the nature. But will it work?
		Opposite Day	Squidward wants to get rid of SpongeBob, and he invents Opposite Day.
10		Culture Shock	Since a while, the Krusty Krab has had no customers, so Mr. Krabs plans a talent show. Squidward is in charge.
11		MuscleBob BuffPants	SpongeBob buys two inflatable arms which have big muscles, so that everyone adore him. Problems arise when Sandy enters him into the weightlifting competition.
12		The Chaperone	SpongeBob is Pearl’s date and has to accompany her at the prom.
		Employee of the Month	Squidward wants to prove SpongeBob that he can, like SpongeBob, become Employee of the month, but SpongeBob doesn’t want that. The two soon battle it out for the award.
13		Scaredy Pants	SpongeBob is determined to scare others on Halloween, instead of being the one scared himself. Can he scare people?
		I Was a Teenage Gary	After accidentally being stung by Gary the Snail’s snail medication, SpongeBob becomes a snail.
15		Sleepy Time	SpongeBob dreams of invading the dreams of his friends. This gets on their nerves.
		Suds	SpongeBob becomes sick and gets the suds. To "help" him, Patrick impersonates a doctor, calling himself Doctor Patrick! But Sandy wants to take him to a real doctor, Dr. Gill Gilliam, who will help....
16		The Paper	SpongeBob does fun things with a piece of paper that Squidward threw away. Soon, Squidward wants the paper back.
19		Fools in April	Squidward is annoyed of SpongeBob’s April Fools pranks. He plots a demise for SpongeBob!
20		Hooky	Mr. Krabs tries to warn SpongeBob of hooks that have returned. Patrick shows SpongeBob the new Hook "Carnival"...
		Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II	SpongeBob wins a mystery item from the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy show.

23		Big Pink Loser	Patrick is desperate to win an award after seeing all of SpongeBob’s. To cheer up Patrick, SpongeBob lets him work at the Krusty Krab and tells him to act just like him. But Patrick takes his friend’s advice literally and begins imitating SpongeBob’s every move, which gets way out of hand.
27		Pre-Hibernation Week	Sandy wants to spend a week with SpongeBob before she goes to sleep for the winter, but Sandy’s means of fun could possibly endanger SpongeBob’s life.
29		Dumped	Gary the Snail leaves SpongeBob for Patrick!
32		The Smoking Peanut	The main attraction oyster at the zoo is on an emotional rampage, and SpongeBob thinks he did it after throwing a peanut at the oyster.
33		Gary Takes a Bath	SpongeBob has difficulty giving Gary a bath.
34		Frankendoodle	After a pencil falls from the sky, SpongeBob creates a clone of himself named DoodleBob.
35		The Secret Box	When he finds out about Patrick’s secret box, SpongeBob is desperate to learn the secret.
37		Procrastination	SpongeBob has a "Writer’s Block" while writing an essay, and tries to find any way to become distracted so he doesn’t have to write it.
		I’m with Stupid	When Patrick’s parents are planning to come over, SpongeBob pretends to be dumb so Patrick’s parents would think their son is the smartest guy ever.

51		Party Pooper Pants	SpongeBob decides that he will have a party at his house and he invites everybody. SpongeBob keeps bothering everybody with his list of what to do at what time list and gets locked out of his own house.
53		New Student Starfish	Patrick says he has nothing to do when SpongeBob is at boating school so SpongeBob decides to let Patrick come to school with him.
		Clams	Mr. Krabs earns his millionth dollar, and, as a reward to his employees, he brings everyone clam fishing!
55		The Great Snail Race	When Squidward calls Gary a mutt and SpongeBob finds out Squidward’s snail (Snellie) is entering a snail race, they and Patrick (with his rock Rocky) complete in the big snail race.
56		I Had an Accident	After SpongeBob gets his butt severely injured, he decides to stay indoors for the rest of his life.
57		Krabby Land	Mr. Krabs sets up Krabby Land Park, but it causes huge problems for SpongeBob and many other people!
58		Missing Identity	SpongeBob finds out that he lost his nametag and goes crazy. He tries to retrace his steps but Patrick keeps ruining it for him.
59		The Sponge Who Could Fly	SpongeBob tries to gain the ability to happily soar in the sky so he can fly with the jellyfish, but everybody laughs at him because his FIRST try was unsuccessful.
60		SpongeBob Meets the Strangler	After tattling on the TattleTale Strangler for littering, SpongeBob gets threatened by him, so he gets a bodyguard -- the Strangler himself.

74		Bummer Vacation	SpongeBob is forced to take a vacation or else Mr. Krabs would pay a fine. But SpongeBob can’t stay away from work...
75		Squidtastic Voyage	After Squidward swallows part of his clarinet, Sandy launches a plan to retrieve it from inside Squidward’s body.
76		The Thing	Squidward becomes trapped in quick drying cement, in which SpongeBob and Patrick mistake him for an unknown species.
77		Driven to Tears	Patrick gets his drivers license and a free boatmobile, making SpongeBob jealous.
		Rule of Dumb	Patrick finds out that he’s a descendant of royalty, becoming King Patrick! When he’s crowned king however, he abuses his power.
79		The Pink Purloiner	When SpongeBob’s jellyfishing net disappears, he thinks that Patrick stole it.
80		Best Day Ever	Everything that was supposed to go well on SpongeBob’s Best Day Ever...doesn’t.
		The Gift of Gum	On Best Friends' Day, Patrick gives SpongeBob a giant, smelly blob of gum. But SpongeBob doesn’t like it.
