Plot

The Krusty Krab celebrates its "eleventy-seventh" anniversary, and Mr. Krabs plans to sell lots of Krabby Patties. Spongebob has all the decorations ready, but when he takes the whole group into the freezer to show them the a big Krabby Patty he made out of ice, it proves to heavy for him to pull, and he flies out, only to bounce back in, the door closing and locking behind him. So SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs accidentally get locked in the freezer before they have a chance to celebrate. While finding their way through air shafts, they look back at some memorable moments in their lives and tell each other shocking reveals, thinking that they will never get out. SpongeBob even almost reveals the secret formula in a flashback! Meanwhile, Plankton finally finds the perfect opportunity to steal the Krabby Patty formula! But, like any other episode, the formula fails to come out to the public. We keep waiting.

Cultural References

• The original title is based on the Boys Like Girls song "The Great Escape". It may have also been from the classic 1963 film of the same name.

Trivia/Goofs

• This is the fourth time someone got locked in the freezer. The first time was Squidward in SB-129, the second time was The Health Inspector in Nasty Patty and the third time was Wigstruck although it was just mentioned.
• There is a 3-hour marathon to go with the movie.
• The original name was The Great Escape! but later it was changed to Truth or Square?.
• In September, there were two books released, based on this movie. They are called SpongeBob SquarePants: The Great Escape! and SpongeBob SquarePants: Good Times!.
• This is the second SpongeBob TV movie. The first was Atlantis SquarePantis.
• This movie was originally going to air during Season 6, but it was later moved to Season 7.
• The German version airs on the 7th of November, the day after it airs in the USA November,6.
• The movie is called Truth or Square?, but the book calls it The Great Escape!, its original name.
• There will also be a game to the movie called, "Truth or Square?".
• The movie will include a new opening in stop-motion. [1]
• In this movie, there will be footage of SpongeBob as a baby and the first Krusty Krab commercials.
• The first ad said SpongeBob and Sandy could be getting married in this movie. A second ad says that SpongeBob once married Sandy. However, it turns out to be a play which the Bikini Bottomites dislike very much.
• Mother SquarePants will be seen pregnant with SpongeBob for the first time. Also, Mother SquarePants' old hairdo is seen in this movie.
• It is unknown who the Krusty Krab fry cook during SpongeBob's baby flashback. In Squidward's "Before SpongeBob" flashback, Jim wasn't the fry cook, possibly because the flashback takes place after he quit.
• This is the first movie and/or episode in HD.
• This is the first time Sandy is seen in a wedding dress.
• This is the fourth time SpongeBob is seen in a tuxedo. The first was in The Chaperone, the second was in To Love a Patty, and the third was in Overbooked.
• This is the second time we've seen Sandy in a dress. The first was in Overbooked.
• SpongeBob pulls the umbilical cord out of his belly button in his flash back. This probably would've killed him, but didn't.
• There is a 1920's cartoon style segment of SpongeBob going to work.

• Although probably unintentional, there seems to be references to many past episodes/ movies. For example: when getting dressed, references to The Spongebob SquarePants Movie, Stuck in the Wringer, Picture Day, and the Lost episode.
• How can Spongebob put his umbilical cord into his mouth?
• Patchy the Pirate is always seen with a peg leg but in this movie he doesn't have one.
• Despite foreshadowing in the advertisements, the Krabby Patty formula was never revealed. Also, SpongeBob had never actually married Sandy.
• This is the first time Patchy is underwater.
• 3 altered SpongeBob theme songs are shown, one with Patrick, one with Mr. Krabs, and one with Squidward.
• During the 20's style cartoon,the krusty krab has no flags.
• Spongebob and Sandy's marriage was a play, but Spongebob said "Remember the day Sandy and I got married?"
• The episode title card music is the same as Hocus Pocus
