Battle for Bikini Bottom

Battle for Bikini Bottom is a 2003 video game released for the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, and Xbox consoles. In the game SpongeBob must save Bikini Bottom from Plankton's army of evil robots.

Levels

Console

• Bikini Bottom: It's not really a "level." It is just the main hub. But there are Golden Spatulas to collect, along with some of Patrick's missing socks, shiny objects, and some more secrets. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob

• Jellyfish Fields: It is a level infested by Jellyfish and robots. The main mission is to find a jar of King Jellyfish Jelly and give it to Squidward, who was stung by Jellyfish. The only way to do that is to climb to the peak of Spork Mountain and defeat the King Jellyfish. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick

• Downtown Bikini Bottom: In this level Sandy is introduced as a playable character and the player has to find steering wheels for Mrs. Puff. They are also introduced to some buildings seen in the series, such as the Sea Needle. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Sandy

• Goo Lagoon: The player must travel along the beach and through the Pier to destroy a robot who stole all the sunblock. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick

• Poseidome in Atlantis: This is the arena where the player battles Robo-Sandy. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob (1st & 3rd Rounds of battle), Patrick (2nd Round of battle)

• Rock Bottom: Mrs. Puff asks SpongeBob to get some artwork that was stolen from the Rock Bottom Museum by the robots. You are also introduced to a few new kinds of robots. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Sandy

• Mermalair: You must venture through traps and gadgets and shut down the security system. Afterwards, you accidentally free Prawn and have to battle him. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick

• Sand Mountain: You will have to slide down 3 different types of slopes, trying to beat the record times of Mrs. Puff, Bubble Buddy, and Larry to earn more Golden Spatulas. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Sandy

• Industrial Park: You must battle and defeat Robo-Patrick and save Squidward. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob (1st & 3rd Rounds of battle), Sandy (2nd Round of battle)

• Kelp Forest: Mrs. Puff and her students go camping but get lost, leaving you to find each student. You also, at the end, try to beat Mermaid Man's record time on a tricky kelp vine slide. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick

• Flying Dutchman's Graveyard: You venture through this graveyard of ships to free the Dutchman's ship from robots, using all your skill, at the end having to battle the Flying Dutchman after he backs out of the deal. -Playble Characters: SpongeBob, Sandy

• SpongeBob's Dream: You venture through dream bubbles (Seems to be based off of the episode Sleepy Time), Slipping down slides as Sandy, defeating rounds of robots as Spongebob on a grill, bouncing on notes in Squidward's head, and getting a free spatula from Patrick. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob, Sandy (Sandy's Slide Dream only)

• Chum Bucket Lab: Your final battle. You find out Plankton has caused all this havoc, not Spongebob, and must defeat SpongeBot SteelPants, a giant SpongeBob robot.. At first you think it's down, but then you realize the only way to truly stop it is to shut it down by going to the brain inside, dodging Robo-Plankton's gamma rays with every hop. -Playable Characters: SpongeBob

• Robots in the Skies
• Squid Vicious (Robo-Squidward Boss) - Use Mystery to eat the BombBots, then get a ride on of the tentacles (avoid its spikes) and spit them on Robo-Squid, plus watch out for musical notes.

Chapter 4:

• Deep Trouble
• Escape from Sand Mountain
• Back to the Seacave
• Industrial Robolution
• Plankton's Inner Sanctum
• SpongeBob SteelPants (Robo-SpongeBob Boss) - Spit the BombBots out into the Duplicatatron, and once it explodes, SteelPants will throw Krabby Patty Bombs at you. Eat them and spit them out at him.

Fodder

Easily defeated robots with an electric staff. To defeat - One hit attack.

Ham-mer

Easily defeated robots with a heavy piece of ham used as a hammer. To defeat - One hit attack.

Tar-Tar

Robots that shoot tar-tar- sauce. To defeat - Two hit attacks.

Chuck

Robots that throw rockets from afar. To defeat - Use viking hat move when under the robot.

Chomp-Bot

Robots that spray stinky dog breath. To defeat - One hit attack.

G-Love

Robots that spin around and slap. To defeat - Jump above the robot as it's spinning and use bubble feet move.

Monsoon

Robots that create rainclouds to attack. To defeat- Use viking helmet underneath robot.

Bomb-Bot

Robots that follow you and blow up in a few seconds. To defeat - One hit attack.

Arf

Robots that carry a supply of Arf Dawgs, that follow you and blow up. To defeat - Bubble bowl into him. When he moves, repeat.

Sleepy Time

Robots that will wake up if you don't sneak up on them. To defeat - Sneak up on it, the one hit attack.

Bzzt-bot

Robots that shoot lasers from their eye. To defeat - One hit attack.;

Slick

Robots that have an oil bubble shield and shoot oil bubbles. To defeat - Bubble bowl to remove the shield, then bubble bowl again, or three hit attacks.

Tubelet

Three robots that are stacked, and the bottom one spins and spurts out lava. To defeat - Jump over lava then hit the bottom one, then use viking helmet attack to clear the other two.

Arf Dawg

These are the robot dogs that Arf uses, which explode without warning. To defeat - One hit attack.

Robot Plankton

The evil robot on the last level. To defeat - use bubble rocket or basic attack (at times).

Bosses

King Jellyfish

Attacks by spouting an army of jellyfish. When he lands, hit him with the bubble wand. Appears in Jellyfish Fields.

Robo-Sandy

A martial-arts robot version of Sandy. Her weakspot, however, is the button under her head. Patrick can throw her head, and SpongeBob can Viking Smash it. Appears in Posidome.

Prawn

Launches a repulser ray. You can't attack him until you find a safe, uncolored row of tiles. Use the bowling ball attack on him. Ham-mer Bots also inhavit the area. Appears in Mermalair.

Robo-Patrick

A lean-mean Patrick machine that attacks with nuclear sludge on his ice cream cone, and has icy breath. Aim for his back with the "Kick Me" sign attached to it. Appears in Industrial Park.

Flying Dutchman

Fires lasers with his eyes. Eventually, lasso his tail during his nose flamethrower move. Appears in Flying Dutchman's Graveyard

SpongeBot SteelPants

A robot version of SpongeBob with his karate gear on. First, Bubble Bounce on his hands. Then, either jump and hit Robo-Plankton, or cruise bubble Robo-Plankton. SpongeBot SteelPants will then get up and start doing karate chops (he adds another karate chop with every hit). Dodge that, then fire Cruise Bubble at the green lights. Then, deal with robo-plankton again. Then he will start shouting "KAH-RAE-TAE!" (he adds another one every hit). Then deal with Robo-Plankton again. Then you must destroy 5 Duplicatrons, hit Robo-Plankton with a cruise bubble after destroying each Duplicatron, then Bubble Spin the first fuse, Bubble Bash the second, Bubble Bounce the third, and Bubble Bounce the last. Then, destroy three fuses inside his brain by cruise bubble into each one. Location of the brain fuses: one in each brain hole. Before you Cruise bubble into each brain fuse, you must first deal with Robo-Plankton, one before each brain hole. Appears in Chum Bucket Lab.

Robo-Squidward

Only in GBA verion. Fires blaring notes to attack. SpongeBob's seahorse, Mystery, must swallow a bomb bot, rides on one of his tentacles, then spit the bot at Robo-Squidward's head.

Fact: Robo-Squidward can be seen in the movie theater's concept art in the console versions of the game, implying that maybe he was going to be in the console version, but he never made it in, for unknown reasons.

Reception

Battle for Bikini Bottom is the most successful SpongeBob video game released. It has won numerous awards and has been given the titles of Greatest Hits and Platinum hits on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube.It is featured in the Happy Squared Double Pack for Playstation 2.

Bubble Buddy: Uhh...

• Bubble Buddy: So, what are you supposed to be?

Patrick: I'm a starfish. What are you?
Bubble Buddy: I'm a figment of SpongeBob's imagination.
Patrick: Oh, that makes sense.

• Johnny: What an opening for a guy literally filled with openings!

• SpongeBob: I think I have fudge in my pants.

• SpongeBob: PLANKTON! YOU WERE BEHIND THIS ALL THE WHOLE TIME, WEREN'T YOU!

Plankton (while trying to set the switch on the Duplicatron 3000 on Obey Plankton): Yes yes yes! Behold, the Duplicatatron, I registered the name so don't even think about ripping me off!

(Plankton then puts a metal thing that says Obey on the Duplicatron)

Plankton: What's wrong? It should be working!

Robo-Plankton: It is working! They are obeying me!

Plankton: I knew I shouldn't have made a copy of myself! But I'm just so cute!

Robo-Plankton: You have interfered with my plans for the last time! *Beep* SpongeBob *beep* SpongeBob!

SpongeBob: Hi! How do you do? Allow me to introduce my friends: Patrick, Sandy-

Robo-Plankton: Enough! Prepare to meet your doom! (SpongeBob has defeated SpongeBot SteelPants) NOOO!! You have destroyed my beautfiul bride! We were supposed to get married next week!

Sandy: Did he say marry?

Robo-Plankton: I'll repair you baby!

(SpongeBot SteelPants then gets Anchor Arms)

Patrick: Look, I'm shrinking!

SpongeBob: No Patrick. I think the robot is getting...BIGGER!!

(Robo-Plankton flies inside robot through hole in head)

Patrick: SpongeBob! He just flew into your head!

SpongeBob: Well then i'm going to follow him into my head! I mean my robot version's head, which is like my head, but bigger! And more metallic!

Plankton: Will you go already!

SpongeBob: Here i come robot plankton!

(SpongeBob then goes into the robot's head)

Squidward: This is just getting too weird for me!

• Johnny: Will SpongeBob be able to neutralize the robot's brain? Or will SpongeBob go home defeated and dejected? Stay Tuned!

(After SpongeBob neutralizes the robot's brain)

(Robot tries to pick his ear out with his finger to get SpongeBob out)

(Robot then uses its other hand to knock SpongeBob and Robo-Plankton out of head)

(Robot's anchor arms deflate and robot falls over backwards, defeated)

Plankton: NOOO!! All my plans, ruined! (muttering: That's it, I'm becoming a lawyer!)

Robo-Plankton: This isn't over yet! I still have robots all over Bikini Bottom! I'll summon them all, and then we'll see!

(Duplicatron starts spewing out more Robo-Planktons and they start arguing)

Original Robo-Plankton: Uh oh.

Robo-Plankton 2: I'll destroy you!

Original Robo-Plankton: You'll destroy me? I'll destroy you!

Robo Plankton 3: I'll destroy you plus 1!

Robo Plankton 4: I'll destroy you plus infinity!

Robo-Plankton 5: Oh yeah? I'll show you!

Robo-Plankton 2: I went to community college!

Robo Plankton 3: Shut up you stupid robots!

Robo-Plankton 6: You over sized pumpy grinder!

Robo-Plankton 7: Come here and fight like a bottle of soap with anchor arms!

All Robo-Planktons: Blah, blah, blah....

SpongeBob: Well Plankton, I hope you learned your lesson.

Plankton: Oh yes I certainly did! Next time I'll get it right!

(Patrick steps on Plankton)

Patrick: We won! Let's go get ice cream!

Plankton: (muffling in disagreement: mmmmmmm!)

Sandy: Might I remind you that there are still robots out there making a mess of Bikini Bottom!

SpongeBob: Sandy is right.

Patrick: I thought she was a squirrel.

Squidward: I'm being punished. I don't know for what but I'm being punished.

SpongeBob: There's still work to be done out there. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy wouldn't stop, and neither will I. We can't rest until Bikini Bottom is safe!

(SpongeBob blinks a few times and then smiles, and then does something with his finger to his nose)

Trivia

• In some videos from IGN, Sandy rode down slides with her tail, but in the final version, this was replaced with a snowboard
• If it's St Patrick's Day the Tubelet enemy will attack you with green flames.
• Oddly, the sign for Bikini Bottom is near SpongeBob's House at the entrance to the Downtown level. It should be at the city limits. Possibly, according to Rock Bottom (Episode), it should be at the entrance to the Rock Bottom level.
• In the PC version, Plankton said bad word #11 from the episode Sailor Mouth
