Plot
SpongeBob reads a scary book before bedtime. When he and Gary go to sleep, SpongeBob gets afraid in the dark. The next day he goes to work, whenever he sees darkness including blinking he over reacts to it. Mr. Krabs told him to buy a night light. All is well until he discovered the other rooms inside his house still covered by the darkness and then he rushed back to the store and bought some more lights. Patrick moves in to SpongeBob's house because he is scared of the dark but makes a hole in the wall letting in all of the darkness. SpongeBob and Patrick buy all sorts of light, probably stole some as well. This caused Squidward to wake up. One light has an M on it alerting Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. They find out there is no danger until a moth comes which Mermaid Man has been searching 57 years. SpongeBob traps it but it flies away with the top of his house and gary. At the time that is now morning, Patrick runs to the sun for more light, but unfortunately there is too much of it and run back to earth on fire and spongebob goes to sleep.
Trivia/Goofs
- Mark Hamill guest voices as the Moth.
- Tom Kenny's face appeared when Mr. Krabs asked SpongeBob to go in the freezer.
- It took less than a minute for Patrick to reach the sun. The sun is 93,000,000 miles away, and would take years to reach it and go back to earth. This moment should have a time card to fit this situation, just like Squid on Strike though most likely when he got out of the water the light and dry air caused him to catch on fire.
- When Patrick went to get the big ball of light, which was the sun, he come running back on fire. However, it is impossible to have your body on fire if you are underwater.
- SpongeBob's house is shown to be several times larger than usual.
- In this episode, marks the first time Mermaid Man ever addresses SpongeBob by his name because usually they will call him kid.
- This is the second time SpongeBob and Patrick have a sleepover.
- This is the second time SpongeBob had nightmares. The first time he had a nightmare was on episode Krab Borg.
- The title of the episode is similar to the Arthur episode called Night Fright.
- This is impossible for Patrick to get to the sun without choking out of the water.
- It's also impossible for Patrick to run up imaginary steps to the sun however there was a ray of sunlight so he possibly just walked on it.
- This is the second time the M alert is very similar to the light of Batman's shadow.
- Squidward fears his eyes then in a second time the Sea Bear is very similarity mentioned to darkness in The Camping Episode instead of Funny Pants.
- When SpongeBob looks inside his head, it is different from Plankton!, because he had the optic nerves snapped off of his eyes, but in Plankton!, he did not have the optic nerves.
- In this episode, SpongeBob wears the same pajamas that he wears in the episodes New Digs and Breath of Fresh Squidward.
- Sponges do not have brains, so SpongeBob could not look at one in his head.
- How can the moth lift up the lighthouse and SpongeBob's house if he can't be that strong?
- This episode and SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big One mark the most guest stars in one episode. This episode aried on my friend Ramon s 17th Birthday.
