Plot

The episode begins with Sandy and SpongeBob at the Treedome working on a teleporter to teleport Sandy's acorns to Texas. Unfortunatly, the teleporter fails. The scene changes to the Chum Bucket where Plankton is manically laughing for he just completed a new invention. Karen and Plankton converse for a while, until Plankton enters the invention and becomes a gas. He travels across the street to the Krusty Krab and slips through the door and into Mr. Krabs's office. Mr. Krabs is revolted by the smell and uses a fan to blow him away. Plankton is blown to the Treedome where Spongebob recognises him and Sandy is impressed that he was able to turn himself into a gas. Sandy and Plankton converse and Sandy decides to come over and help combine Plankton's invention with Sandy's teleporter. While at the Chum Bucket, Sandy and Plankton talk about science while Spongebob is sad and feels left out. Sandy then tells him he can be the test monkey. and Sandy hook cables up to Spongebob and teleport him to the Krusty Krab. Unfortunatly only his eyes teleport. Squidward is scared and tells Mr. Krabs who thinks that Squidward just has bad gas. Plankton and Sandy teleport Spongebob back to the Chum Bucket. It goes like that for a while until Spongebob's entire body gets teleported. Plankton then traps Sandy and Spongebob in a cage and teleports him to the bottle where the Krabby Patty formula is stored. Then, Sandy teleports the Krabby Patty formula back to her and Spongebob, leaving Plankton stuck in the bottle. Sandy said she knew Plankton was in it for the formula all along. The episode ends with Sandy bragging that she cannot be fooled and laughing evilly.

Trivia

  • This marks the introduction of Sandy and Karen to each other.
  • Squidward can cook in this episode, unlike most others.
  • There is a talking piece of broccoli in Plankton's machine.
  • Patrick SmartPants re-aired when this episode premiered, but it now airs with Big Sister Sam.
  • Sandy and Plankton both appeared to be using either MIG or TIG arc welding on their inventions. However, besides the head shields, neither is wearing any protection (especially dangerous for Sandy, who is covered in fur).
  • The torches had a flame coming from the tip, but MIG and TIG welding utilize an electric arc instead.
  • When Sandy waved her torch around no one was affected by their lack of eye protection.
  • When SpongeBob picks up the Krabby Patty formula, Sandy is right next to Spongebob looking at it.
  • The title card is the same as Porous Pockets but it is purple.
  • While Plankton is a solid, he must stay on ground because of the law of gravity. As a gaseous substance, he is able to stay off the ground and float around but can remain his distance from the ground.
  • While Plankton is a gas, he would lose some of his molecules since it disappears.
  • Strangely, the gas doesn't expand. The most likely hypothesis is that the cold, deep water at night keeps it from expanding.
  • After Plankton thaws, he is able to survive without wearing a miniature water helmet.
