However, the ride short-circuits and starts speeding up, eventually flinging everyone on the ride a great distance. The ride then collapses under the stress.

Plot

SpongeBob and Patrick are walking around Bikini Bottom, wanting to find some sort of "secret hideout" that nobody else would know the location of where SpongeBob and Patrick could play without anybody else around. Just then, a sinkhole opens underneath them, and the two land on a large shipwreck, which they find out is called the Mauna Loa. They decide that they've found their secret hideout, and triumphantly go home.

The next day, SpongeBob and Patrick are at the Krusty Krab, and once SpongeBob is done for the day, he meets up with Patrick, and then starts talking about going back to their "hideout", with Patrick loudly exclaiming "SECRET HIDEOUT!!!" at the thought. Mr. Krabs overhears this, and convinces the two to allow him to go with them, saying there might be buried treasure somewhere in the ship.

The three go to the Mauna Loa, and start searching for the supposed treasure. SpongeBob points out the Captain's Quarters. Mr. Krabs suspects the treasure to be in the quarters, so the three go inside, where Mr. Krabs spots a chest. Without a doubt in his mind, he believes this to be the spot where the treasure is. He opens the chest, only to find fake pirate-related things, such as "dubloons" which are really tokens that have no monetary value (as proven by them having the message "Token has no monetary value" on the back), a plastic skeleton and a fake pirate hat. Confused, he notices the entire room is filled with novelty pirate merchandise. They go outside the ship, where Patrick finds a ticket booth, with a sign saying "The Wreck of the Mauna Loa Amusement Park". Realizing this is not the real wreck, Mr. Krabs is upset, but SpongeBob and Patrick are fine with it, seeing as they could still use it as a "secret hideout".

The day after that, SpongeBob and Patrick go back to the Mauna Loa Amusement Park, only to find a large, lighted sign, saying "The Wreck of the Mauna Loa". They go inside the cave where the fake Mauna Loa is, and find that Mr. Krabs, in his obsession with money, has capitalized on it, turning it into a massive "rocking ship" ride. At first, SpongeBob and Patrick are mad that they no longer have a secret hideout, but they decide to go on the ride anyway, and end up liking the ride. However, the ride short-circuits and starts speeding up, eventually flinging everyone on the ride a great distance. The ride then collapses under the stress.

After that, Mr. Krabs is arrested (by two cops who had come to ride the attraction) for building a life-threatening ride, and SpongeBob and Patrick leave. As they are walking home, they fall down another sinkhole, and land on an identical ship, conveniently labeled "the Real Mauna Loa". The episode then ends.

Trivia/Goofs

  • When SpongeBob and Patrick find the tokens, it doesn't show what it really says.
  • Second time Mr. Krabs mimics something that SpongeBob says. First was in Arrgh!
  • There is a ship in the real world named the Mauna Loa.
