Plot

SpongeBob and Patrick are eating lunch at the Krusty Krab, making silly faces. Mr. Krabs tells them the story of the face freeze, a story about a fish who likes to stick his tongue out at other fishes. One day when he stuck his tongue out for the 444th time, it stayed that way. One day, his tongue dried up and broke off. The story scares the two, and they decide to never make faces again. However, they cannot resist making faces. SpongeBob thinks that since his face didn't freeze, the legend isn't true and they should make lots of faces. They decide to make one face and keep it for the rest of the night to see if the legend is true. At night time, they bother Squidward who angrily scolds at them.

The next day, the two find they have the face freeze. The two seek help from Sandy, who tries to give them a facial massage, but makes their faces even worse. Later at the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob tries to avoid Mr. Krabs noticing his face freeze, though the plan doesn't prevail. SpongeBob fins it daunting to cook with face freeze. The subsequent customer dissatisfaction caused by this leads to the initial failure of the plan. SpongeBob tries to procrastinate so Mr. Krabs does not notice, until Patrick comes in and Mr. Krabs notices he has the face freeze. Mr. Krabs is so angered, he gets an angry face and it freezes that way. Squidward comes in, and thinks that their faces are so funny, he begins laughing hysterically, and his face freezes like that.

Trivia/Goofs

  • This is the second time Mr. Krabs told SpongeBob and Patrick a true story that they thought was untrue.
  • One of the faces SpongeBob makes resembles the "Forever Alone" face.
  • Sariel Graisser is said to have designed the disturbing faces in this episode. However, this isn't true. Robert Ryan Cory did the work, as seen on his Flickr account.
  • Patrick is able to keep his tongue out all night.
