Hungry for Heroes is a short comic featured in Nickelodeon Magazine and Comic Crazy...Take 2!. In the comic, Patrick is hungry, and SpongeBob's Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy comic book is the only "food" nearby.
Plot
Patrick asks SpongeBob if he's ready to go have lunch, adding that he's hungry. However, SpongeBob is reading the latest The Adventures of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy comic book issue, which he's just got, and says that he has to find out what happens. The comic then shifts to the MM&BB comic, with its first panel having these words:
LAST ISSUE, WE SAW A
GIANT PIRANHA MONSTER
ABOUT TO ATTACK THE
DOMED CITY OF
ATLANTIS!
Mermaid Man uses one of his water balls on a huge monsterous piranha that is attacking Atlantis, stating it will "give him something to think about." However, Barnacle Boy soon tells Mermaid Man that his water ball "gave him something to think about, all right... us!" They begin to swim, but the piranha is faster than them, as Barnacle Boy points out. Mermaid Man shouts "Don't look back!" before the piranha prepares to eat him. However, a majority of the next panel is missing; Patrick had eaten SpongeBob's comic book. SpongeBob runs to the Bikini Bottom Hospital with Patrick, stating that he's got to find out what happened. At the hospital, SpongeBob tells Patrick to move his spleen, but Patrick only shouts "I'm trying!" Dr. Gill Gilliam cameos in the final panel.
