Characters

Running gags made from, or about, specific characters:

SpongeBob

• Changes the shape of his body often.
• Nearly every season, his voice changes.
• Eats Gary's food.
• Changes his Krusty Krab working routine every time he is seen at the Krusty Krab.

Patrick

• Blows food into Squidward's face.
• Overestimates SpongeBob's abilities, such as lowering the amount of time SpongeBob has to get King Neptune's crown in the movie.
• Gets SpongeBob in trouble by convincing him to do something he is not supposed to do.
• Eats everything, including things not supposed to be eaten.
• Mentioning Ice Cream, foods and drinks.
• Acting or speaking intelligently out of nowhere.
• Saying "Who are you people?!?".
• Unintentionally giving SpongeBob an idea and then when being asked by SpongeBob "say that again Patrick" saying something else that is irrelevant.
• Forgets who his parents are.
• Falls off the bottom of his house a couple seconds after it opens then crashes on to the furniture.

Squidward

• Something bad happens to him, such as getting lost or injured.
• Explodes when falling off a cliff.
• Made fun of about his nose.
• Plays clarinet so badly (the noise is often mistaken for something else).

Sandy

• Her home place Texas being made fun of.
• SpongeBob and Patrick messing with one of her inventions
• SpongeBob and Patrick taking her fur

Pearl

• Gets embarrassed by her father Mr. Krabs every time she appears.

Plankton

• Gets squashed by someone bigger than him.
• Plans to steal the Krabby Patty Formula foiled.
• Says "ouch" when thrown out of the Krusty Krab and across the street.
• Commonly gets teased at because he is also known as Sheldon.

Mr. Krabs

• Makes remarks on money or prices of the Krusty Krab's food.
• Loses his customers.
• Parts of him come off, such as his arms.
• His eyes sometimes either turn the pupils into dollar signs or turn into blocks of silver or gold.
• Turning down something else that is much more important than money for money.
• Sometimes gets sent to the courthouse for crimes involving money (such as stealing the secret sauce because he thinks $1.98 is expensive or not using wet floor signs to save cash).
• Saying that Patrick works at the Krusty Krab to make fun of him/get him out of the Krusty Krab.

Karen

• Putting down Plankton's evil schemes to steal the Krabby Patty formula
• Karen suggesting an idea to Plankton but he dosn't listen and comes up with an idea which was Karen's.

Mrs. Puff

• Always inflates her size after SpongeBob flunks his driver's lesson
• Is sent to jail because of SpongeBob causing destruction while driving

• Fred: saying "my leg" when injured.
• Barnacle Boy: being treated like a sidekick.
• Mermaid Man: overreacting when someone says the word "evil" and forgetting who Barnacle Boy is.

Episodes

• The Great Snail Race: Squidward's last name being mispronounced and/or typed wrong.
• Friend or Foe?: Mr. Krabs being called Rag Boy and getting teased at with Plankton.
• Something Smells: People or things running away when SpongeBob or Patrick speak.
• Hall Monitor: Patrick screaming at everything.
• I'm Your Biggest Fanatic: Kevin getting stung by a jellyfish and a member imitating a trumpet by going "wa wa wa."
• Jellyfishing: Someone being stung by a jellyfish in multiple ways.

• Once Bitten: Everyone in Bikini Bottom screaming and panicking.
• Arrgh!: SpongeBob and Patrick saying that Mr. Krabs is sweaty.

Patchy/Potty Scenes

• Potty the Parrot's strings being cut.
• Potty the Parrot ends up losing his body and only his head remains.
• Patchy the Pirate getting injured.
• Patchy the Pirate's eyepatch switching eyes.

Other

• Something being destroyed, such as the Krusty Krab.
• A riot being thrown when a group of people are angry at someone or something.
• The town being destroyed when something affects the entire town, such as a "monster" or Mad Snail Disease.
• A reference to the average episode's length: 11 minutes.
• Fake time cards, such as "One Debt to Society Later" in Driven to Tears.
• A ton of police, cars and/or officers, chasing someone who broke the law (no matter how small the law is).
• A reference to mustaches.
• The police officers arresting people for strange reasons, such as not inviting them to a party.
• The Number 3 being mentioned.
