Brain Coral appeared in the episode Patrick SmartPants, when Patrick and SpongeBob were running in Jellyfish Fields and Patrick ran straight through a sign and fell off the edge of a cliff. When he landed, SpongeBob pulled Patrick out of the sand to find that the top of his head had fell off. SpongeBob looked around and picked up what looked like Patrick's head, but was actually a piece of Brain Coral which made a plug into Patrick's body. This made him extremely smart.
