So you know we have a vandal we call the "Ahh Real Monsters/Rugrats Vandal". He's a sneaky guy. He mainly edits via IP addresses and what seems to be a dynamic range from Wisconsin. He has only used two accounts to my knowledge. He is to be considered very destructive and first priority. I am afraid that he'll probably come knock at this Wiki's door due to us announcing a partnership..and also we've pretty much blocked every single IP and also did a huge range block. - <b><font style="font-family: Papyrus, sans-serif"><font color="#9900CC">Rgood</font><font color="#CC00CC">erm</font><font color="#FF99FF">ote</font></font></b>&nbsp; 20:41, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

Welcome to my talk page. Talk to me!

Contents

Yeah!

I noticed the exact same thing! We should make a statement on the website image saying: "Is this from that other Website SpongePedia? Because I checked recent changes not long ago and they look exactly the same!"

I think you should go make a statement about it. Tell me when your done. Nice pointing out by the way! --Andrewrox Talk 08:11, 21 March 2009 (GMT)

I also do notice that they copy our info, and so did SpongyWiki, but that website is long gone! We have the right to tell them on the wikia, so we should go do it now!!!

Title Card

I already put the title cards in their respective places (Choir Boys (Episode) - Episodes/Season 6)

Beatlesnicole 03:54, 24 March 2009 (GMT)

Same!

About 45 mins ago I put: Taken from SpongePedia!!! on heaps of images. I don't care if I get blocked, cause it's true! --Andrewrox Talk 07:22, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

You really layed down the law to that admin! That is a very professional way to handle the issue. Well done, I too cannot wait to see what he says! --Andrewrox Talk 07:26, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
This is what I had to say. Bug off. Rgoodermote 20:46, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
As an old time Wikipedian. I understand copyrights. You under no way own the copyright to any image that you upload or claim was taken from you. I don't care if you uploaded them. I don't care if you took them from Wikipedia.I do not care period. As long as you can back up what you have to say without being a complete *&%* and using some "custom compression" or in other words...PHOTOSHOP....as your excuse to try and get your way and disrupt another competing Wiki. I would willingly change the images. However you have to do something better than that. I suggest putting some sorta embed information into your images saying that you uploaded em. This way I can effectively do my job. But as you seem to think that a compression that Photoshop uses (which is quite commonly used) is enough for me to say it is your upload you are mistaken. As for timestamps....you gotta give me more than just "time zone differences". So instead embed your info into the damn images so I can deal with the guy. I'm already annoyed by him. But as an admin I'm not going to do anything without proper information or without reason. If you haven't got this yet, this is a bug off and a...I really want you to prove that those are yours because this is some one who has appeared on my radar long before you even showed up. Rgoodermote 20:56, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
I am sorry I called you a *&$*. But you know we both are being **$&s..stubborn ones at that. Anyways, we need to do something. I believe you. I haven't said I didn't. I just want more proof that you are telling the truth. I have a plan if you are willing to listen to me. We talk here, please. Rgoodermote 21:25, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
We can talk here, I anxiously await your plan. --Darren 21:28, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

(undent)Alright so my issue is that some one could claim that they used Photoshop to do your compression and then they could pull a time zone bull crap thing. However if you embed something into say a "title card" then upload it we could use that image and that embedded piece of info against that person. They could not dispute your claim then and then we'd go through and clear out all of their uploads or (most likely) we'll attribute them to you. I've already requested our newest admin watch this user's uploads. Also, if you place this "Similar to [(your hyperlink to image here) this image] by Darren at Spongepedia." on the image space I can promise you that you will not be reverted. Rgoodermote 21:32, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

I like it, but there aren't any new title cards to be uploaded anytime soon, I worked really hard to make sure that we had them all. That's part of the reason I was so upset to see them uploaded to your site by said user. I could make a fake one and upload it... however, I really hated the fake cards that made the rounds a couple weeks ago, and I don't want to provide misinformation. --Darren 21:45, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

I've got a dislike for a fake cards as well. I could say we need a higher quality of an image and ask him to upload it and see what happens. Also, I deleted and restored selectively at my wiki so that only admin could see what was going on. Rgoodermote 21:49, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
Hold on a tick, I'll make up a legit title card using one of your current ones and embed something in it for you. Rgoodermote 21:54, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
Ok --Darren 21:59, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

Just know that any image you give me will have to go into photobucket because SpongePedia is low on space --Darren 22:02, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

Was already way ahead of you on that. So what I did was embed what is call Metadata into the image and I placed your name in it. here it is. So to see if it is yours you save it to your desktop or wherever, right click then go to properties. Then click on the tabbed called "Details" and there it will say your name. Rgoodermote 22:08, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
This is how you do it on Vista at least. I also embedded a lot of other things on it so that even if there is an attempt to delete that very obvious one there are ones that you need special software to get to to remove. Rgoodermote 22:10, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

Unfortunately, I cannot see the metadata that you entered. I'm running Windows XP, and all I don't see my name. hmm. Let me see if I can view metadata using Macromedia Fireworks... --Darren 22:16, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

Owe, if you have Adobe Bridge you can see it. Rgoodermote 22:19, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

(undent) What it looks like to me. I am thinking that difference is between the OS's. If you have some Adobe Product you may be able to see it. I would use Bridge as that is what I used to add the data. Rgoodermote 22:22, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

I can view it in ImageMagick. Where do we go from here? --Darren 22:25, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
Upload this version with the permission of the admin. From there I will make the request to Titanic that he work his magic and upload a new copy. If the metadata is that of this. We have our evidence and we have ourselves a freshly banned user. Rgoodermote 22:26, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
Ok, in order to not attract attention, I'll have to put the new image on photobucket, and delete the old image. Otherwise the timestamps might create some suspicion, and I don't want to tip anyone off. I don't think there is an admin on right now, so let me see what I can do. --Darren 22:31, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
I have to actually sign off now. My love is home and I'd like to give her attention. I'll catch you later and mate, nice meeting you. Rgoodermote 22:32, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

I would do the same. I'll go forward with the plan. I might not have the image up for a bit though. --Darren 22:34, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

It is also highly probable that said user still has the images on his computer somewhere. --Darren 22:41, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
I'm not gone completely..may be here for about an hour or so or (this one is the likeliest) come on randomly. I don't think he'll upload the same image again. Just mark your image as saying "Higher Quality" and that should be enough bait for him. If he does upload the same image again we'll have to do something else. I was thinking I just call him a liar and hit him with a block (lying is against the rules of a Wiki and has been a blocking offense on Wikipedia and other wikis) Rgoodermote 22:50, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
Will do. You already called me a liar, why didn't you block me right away ? :-P --Darren 22:55, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
I believed you. I just knew that if this person turned out to be smart. We'd have a huge issue made huger so we needed a flawless and undeniable bit of proof. I suggest that you embed (if you can't I can for you) your name into every single image and have them reuploaded. This way we don't have any more issues like this and we can help you out quickly. 22:57, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

(undent)Also I can't say I did a crackerjack job of explaining myself. Rgoodermote 23:01, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

Asked him to upload a new version. Rgoodermote 23:26, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
Might be a bit too soon, the old version isn't removed from SpongePedia yet... --Darren 23:30, 25 March 2009 (GMT)
If I were said guy, I would be so suspicious... I'd probably never respond. --Darren 23:32, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

It's no exif profile, but I was able to add a comment, see this image and tell me if you see the comment "Made for SpongePedia by Darren." If you think this kind of thing will not be sufficient, let me know. Thanks for all your help. I am aware that you don't have to do any of this, and I appreciate it a lot. Sorry that we got off on the wrong foot. --Darren 23:56, 25 March 2009 (GMT)

I can not see it at all. Hints? I don't mind helping you guys. In fact I want to help your community out. We have the same ideals and same reasons. We have to work together in order to succeed. Not as one Wiki. But as two with one mind and the beginning of that is solving problems together. Yeah, I am sorry about that as well. Yeah I doubt he'll be on very fast. This is a patients type deal. Rgoodermote 00:17, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
I embedded it in the file using the comment feature of ImageMagick. See this file You should be able to view it in your Adobe Bridge program, I would hope. If not, let me know --Darren 00:29, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

(undent) Hahaha, open the file using notepad... you'll see it... the same thing works with the image you made, it just has more than mine --Darren 00:34, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

Both work perfectly fine. I think I am going to block that user. He has not replied to my various requests. So I am going to block him for that because it means he is guilty. Please provide a full list of your uploads or if you find it easier go through the ones at our Wiki and add the notice yourself Please put it in the summary and have it say "Originally obtained by Darren of Spongepedia." It's cleaner and professional. Also I give you guys permission to upload your images to our Wiki and in turn use them on yours (we'll likely use them as well). Rgoodermote 14:47, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Whatcha think?. Rgoodermote 14:47, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Thanks. Can I ask why you had such a sudden change of heart yesterday? I mean you went from calling me a &%*$, and a liar, and said that I stole the images from wikipedia... to this. --Darren 18:34, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
When you caught me I was ticked off about something but nothing in general. So I didn't think very well. So I just reacted and jumped on the first person who said something. It was a bad move on my part. But luckily for me (and you and our communities) my girlfriend called me up and we talked a little bit and I got into a better mood and started to think straight. So I did a little foot work and realized. That yes everything you said was true and yes you did upload them. But any person could simply claim Photoshop and time zone differences. So I came up with like five plans and waited to see which one would be used first. So basically, my girlfriend made me have a change of heart by making me feel better. Rgoodermote 18:39, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

(undent)I'm glad that your girlfriend made you feel better. Otherwise, you were quite the force to be reckoned with. --Darren 18:46, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

It's what happens when you love some one. The mere sound of her voice can make me feel like an atomic bomb of happiness has been launched straight at me. Also the admin at my Wiki have been informed that you have full permission to move any images you need to move to our Wiki. However we still would like to use them if that is not too much. I think this saves you the bandwidth issue of Photobucket. Rgoodermote 18:48, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Sounds reasonable to me, but I don't make those decisions. --Darren 19:00, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Yeah I went and bugged Andrew about it. We're willing and wanting to help out you guys. For more than the fact that helping you benefits us. It helps the general growth of both our Wikis. Rgoodermote 19:01, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

Okay

Yes, Soon we have to move em to Photobucket. You should ask Beatlesnicole to do that. Thanks,v--Andrewrox Talk 06:13, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

ADMIN
I really think you deserve to be an admin, I really do. But I have a few questions. Will you get board of the site and go inactive after a while, because some admins did that. 2: I will request you become an admin AFTER you help Beatlesnicole to fix up the title card issue. If you (with beatlesnicole) promise to help Photobucket and image stuff then sure you can become an admin! You seem to be very active so that means more vandalism combat! So basically I am saying yes, but only after you help with the image thing. Also, I recommend saving all the title cards to ur PC or Mac (Mac's rule!) so if Photobucket unexpectedly closes down we have all the images. Thanks mate! --Andrewrox Talk 07:00, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

Also, what do you think of the new top bar! It took a while to make, but it saves space so the site is easier to navigate.
I have not tried to yet, but when I get time I will try. The file is about 16 Megabytes and we haven't got much download for the rest of the month. I'll see what i can do. --Andrewrox Talk 07:24, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Well today I came on at around 10 in the morning because I had asthma and had to take a day off school, but yes, usually I am on at around 4 - 8 PM, but on and off. I need to eat, and do other things in between those times. I am quite buy. But I regularly check SpongePedia recent changes to see what happens around here. When you become an admin, you need to frequently check recent changes when your online. By the Way: Are you a kid or an adult? I am 13 years in year 8. Young and fresh! --Andrewrox Talk 08:08, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Wow! I had NO IDEA that you were 25... and Married! That's great. I really thought that you were quite young, but I was wrong. So, this is good because we have a mix of teenagers, young adults and adults! I can't wait for you to become an admin! --Andrewrox Talk 08:43, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

Do you mean my username? Or signature? Thanks! P.S. I'm Wiki Awesome! 11:40, 26 March 2009 (GMT)DJ WikiBob

Personal

I was given a scholarship into various technology colleges, but I've never really been into college. Also going directly after highschool never appealed to me. It just seemed like some one was making me go to the 13th grade and even worse I was going to be a Freshman again. So I simply said no thank you maybe later. But I have no real intention of going to college. I just want to go on with life and see what happens. I have a wonderful girlfriend who I have pledged to spend the rest of my days with and a world of open doors that I want to explore. I'd rather not limit myself by going the same route as everyone else. I want to be able to see this world. See what it has to offer. I want to help people in this world. So I don't think college is really going to let me accomplish what I want. It'll just hold me back. Rgoodermote 18:57, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

And believe me when I say I respect that you are going to get a PhD. Truth is I'd love to get a PhD or Master's (for the sake of being called Dr. or Master). But not really conductive. I'm thinking that after me and my girlfriend get hitched (and after she finishes highschool and then college) we'll take off and see where we can be of assistants. I was thinking I could go to Iraq as a civilian and teach computer technology to students at schools or help build up a computer system for everyone. Rgoodermote 19:09, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Thank you. I do hope I am able to go out and make the change I look for. In the process I also hope to figure out why I am here. Rgoodermote 19:22, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

For your consideration

For your consideration. If it is not too much to ask could you go through all the images and see which ones you have uploaded and make them standard like that? - Rgoodermote  19:36, 26 March 2009 (GMT)

If that is how you feel then I can change it and you can do as you please. I just attributed it to you because you are the uploader and that is standard. Also, take a look at the sitenotice at my Wikia. - Rgoodermote  20:26, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
Go to your Special:Preferences. Where it says "Nickname.. Or what you want to be called on this site." you put in your custom code then check the box that says "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" then save. It's a lot easier on the newer MediaWiki's because it flat out tells you it is a custom signature. - Rgoodermote  20:35, 26 March 2009 (GMT)
