The Golden Spatula was only seen in the episodes Plankton! and Neptune's Spatula, though it also appeared in the video games Legend of the Lost Spatula, Lights, Camera, Pants! (PC version only), Battle for Bikini Bottom (as well as that game's remaster, Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated), and Atlantis SquarePantis.

In Neptune's Spatula, it is featured at the Fry Cook Museum, weighed into a griddle with dried grease. Legend says that only a fry cook worthy of King Neptune himself can pull out the spatula from the dried grease on the griddle. SpongeBob SquarePants pulls it out and goes to the ultimate fry cook challenge with Patrick Star and Eugene H. Krabs. King Neptune then loses and invites SpongeBob to Atlantis.
