Plot
Plankton tears down the Chum Bucket and builds a coliseum in its place. He holds a gladiator show, which causes Mr. Krabs to lose business. Patrick was chosen by Plankton to fight against the Sea lion.

- The title "Spongicus" is a spoof of the famous roman gladiator Sparticus.

- This is one of the three episodes to contain a spoof of a land creature, the first was with a rhinosaurus and bear in "The Camping Episode". The second was in "Whale of a Birthday", hen Pearl says that she wants a Sea Pony, SpongeBob is disguised as a Dogfish to get the Sea Pony.
