[edit] Plot
Patrick comes in and says that he knows what he wants "to order today" but right when Squidward asks "May I take your order?" he forgets. Meanwhile, Plankton is trying to steal another Krabby Patty. SpongeBob catches the patty trying to run away, wraps it up and delivers it, but while he is delivering it they get blown away by very strong winds and end up on an island. Soon after they realize the island is filled with monsters.
SpongeBob and Plankton are forced to work together, and they start a business. One day, however, they decide they miss Bikini Bottom and want to leave without the monsters knowing, but almost immediately the monsters realize and try to put a stop to it. Spongebob and Plankton are too fast and they get out on a tiny sailboat, but when they think they had escaped, it is revealed that the island had been a huge monster the whole time. Finally, with Goo Lagoon getting really close, they are catapulted and land in the Krusty Krab. When they ask Squidward how long they had been gone for, Squidward replies "Six years." Patrick is still thinking about what he wanted to order.
[edit] Trivia
- This is the final episode of any SpongeBob-related series to premiere on a Friday night in the United States in 2023. It also was the final outright episode to premiere on such a night for over a year and eight months.
- This is the final SpongeBob episode to air before the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes, which saw the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) go on strike (the WGA begun its strike on May 2 and SAG-AFTRA followed suit on July 13, with the strikes ending on September 27 and November 9, respectively); the labor disputes would heavily affect the television industry (including almost all daytime and late night topical programs employing WGA writers, which broadcast only reruns from May 2 onward (most such shows didn’t return with new episodes until early October) and the fall network television schedules, which resorted mainly to unscripted programs or acquisitions from other outlets (scripted programs didn’t return until midseason, mostly during 2024). For example, Nickelodeon’s sister network CBS resorted mainly to shows originally made for other Paramount Global-owned outlets.
- Debuts of new episodes of SpongeBob and its spin-offs were not affected by the labor disputes (as animated shows, episodes of SpongeBob and SpongeBob-related shows require longer lead times before they premiere compared to live-action scripted shows).
