The Dance-A-Thon is a dance contest that Squidward Tentacles, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Patrick Star wanted to win in the episode Slimy Dancing. Squidward wanted to win the contest's trophy and he once again bragged to SpongeBob and Patrick about winning the Dance-A-Thon. But Patrick won it for his new dance, The Cramp.

Info

The Dance-A-Thon starts with auditions from dancers who could be potential finalists. Those who make the cut move on to the finals to dance with a chance to win the trophy. Dancers are not permitted to cheat by having another dancer (or even more) help them; the penalty for this is disqualification from the competition.

Appearance

Squidward builds a trophy case because he believes that he'll win the Dance-A-Thon, but SpongeBob and Patrick are after the victory too. Squidward vows to win the trophy in their face. All three audition; Squidward doesn't make the cut while SpongeBob and Patrick do. After being told by the judges that he didn't make the audition, Squidward makes an attempt to steal the trophy, but after a fight over it, he is kicked out of the building where the auditions are taking place. He walks home crying, but is annoyed when SpongeBob and Patrick welcome him with a piece of bamboo for limbo dancing. Squidward almost cries again when they mention the audition, but he lies, claiming that he is so great that he was banned from the competition. He refuses to teach him how to dance for the finals, but after Patrick suggests that he should start tearing down the trophy case, Squidward agrees to teach them. Patrick soon gets a cramp and rolls out of the house. Squidward then trips on the bamboo and gets mixed up with SpongeBob like in the episode SquidBob TentaclePants; after having SpongeBob give up his limbs, Squidward decides to cheat in the competition by controlling SpongeBob to dance so that SpongeBob will win and he can keep the trophy. However, when SpongeBob wins the trophy the next day because Squidward gets a cramp the same way Patrick did, he is disqualified when Squidward is discovered; to everyone's shock, almost all the other dancers cheated as well. The trophy ultimately goes to Patrick, whose cramp was interpreted by the judges as him dancing and because he was the only dancer who didn't cheat. Then "The Cramp" becomes a famous dance in Bikini Bottom.
