Surfin’ Summer is a surf rock song composed by Richard Myhill in the style of The Beach Boys from the Associated Production Music album Music for Summer. The song is featured in the SpongeBob SquarePants episodes Doing Time and SpongeGuard on Duty. In Doing Time, Fred is shown listening to "Surfin’ Summer (a)" while mopping in Shady Shoals. An instrumental version of the song, "Surfin’ Summer (b)", is used in the title card of SpongeGuard on Duty.

Lyrics

Gonna fire up the Chevy and drive out to the beach
With me and my buddies, the girls are never out of reach
We’rejust gonna stay,
'til the moonlight hits the bay
It’s gonna be a surfin’ summer, all the way
Now there’s no more school and the boys are gonna have some fun
(Surfin’ summer)
Those California girls are waitin’ for us in the sun
(Surfin’ summer)
So we’rejust gonna stay,
'til the moonlight hits the bay
It’s gonna be a surfin’ summer, all the way
When we’redone surfin’ we don’t hang around
We jump back in the car and head on back to town
Alright!
We’rejust gonna stay,
'til the moonlight hits the bay
It’s gonna be a surfin’ summer, all the way
When we’redone surfin’ we don’t hang around
We jump back in the car and head on back to town
So we waxed up the boards and now we’reready to go
(Surfin’ summer)
We’rethe kings of the surf and we gotta put on a good show
(Surfin’ summer)
We’rejust gonna stay,
'til the moonlight hits the bay
It’s gonna be a surfin’ summer
It’s gonna be a surfin’ summer
It’s gonna be a surfin’ summer, all the way
