Painty the Pirate is a painting of a pirate head with a parrot. He sings the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song during the introduction in every episode. He also appears in the episodes "Your Shoe's Untied" and "Wet Painters" and at the beginning of the amusement park ride SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D. He is voiced by Patrick Pinney. The only episode when his mouth looks different is Your Shoe's Untied

- Painty sings the SpongeBob theme song regularly on every single episode.
- In the intros of Christmas Who? and It's a SpongeBob Christmas!, he has a wreath.
- In Truth or Square, he also sings the "rejected" theme songs for Squidward, Patrick, and Mr. Krabs. A stop-motion version of him also appears in the episode's special intro.
- In SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D, he is about to sing the theme song as usual, but then he "grabs" the riders and literally brings them down to Bikini Bottom.
- He also appears in a commercial advertising brand new episodes of SpongeBob, and he sings an alternate version of the theme song with different lyrics about the new premieres.
