Patrick passes Squidward, making him angry and leading him to speed up while Mrs. Puff explains: "Remember, ''rage'' relax and go elsewhere." SpongeBob says that he knows and he takes a deep breath in and a deep breath out. Squidward turns less red as he pours a cup of kelp tea in the side of Squidward's mouth then he decides to "rake some sand" and when they are raking sand, Squidward is totally relaxed until he realizes that he isn't moving at all; everyone is really mad at him. He tries to go but his boat is so damaged it breaks so then the driver of the truck, who is a giant, comes out and picks Squidward up but just as that is happening the projector breaks and SpongeBob says he will finish it by making pictures of them on popsicle sticks to create "the moment you've all been waiting for:" SpongeBob's "boating license," which claims that SpongeBob brought peace to the world with his good driving. The license has a picture of Squidward and Mrs. Puff kissing him. Mrs. Puff, having had enough, rips it up and dismisses the class, but keeps SpongeBob and askes for his fake paper license. When SpongeBob gives it to her, she rips it to shreds.

Plot

Mrs. Puff comes out of her boating school and shows a video called Safety at Sea: An Educational Driving Film.

Lesson #1: 5 Things Before Driving

The video begins with the following dialogue: "Mr. Good Driver always does 5 things before he starts his boat. He makes sure his tires are pumped, his propellers are oiled, makes sure his horn is functioning, practices his signals and fastens his seat belt. And then there's a bad driver like what I like to refer to as a SpongeBob." When SpongeBob (the "Bad Driver") tries doing it, he does it incorrectly and ends up seriously injuring Squidward ("Mr. Good Driver").

Lesson #2: Entering Traffic

Squidward looks both ways until the traffic is clear but the second he pulls out SpongeBob crashes into him, worsening the injuries Squidward already sustained.

Lesson #3: Spotting Pedestrians

First, Squidward swerves around a old lady, then a baby. Then Squidward lifts the middle of the boat so a fruit vendor goes over him. Squidward runs off two boards and a truck as a ramp to go over two workers carrying a glass pane. Then SpongeBob starts bouncing on a pogo stick in front of Squidward, who tries to avoid running into him. Unable to do so, he swerves out of control, heading straight toward the same old lady; right when Squidward is about to crash into her, she reveals her muscles and pushes Squidward out of the way, injuring him once again. Due to a missing reel, lessons 4 to 28 are skipped.

Lesson #29: Navigation

Squidward first runs over some speed bumps. He sees some children crossing the road, but they are so slow he goes around them. Overwhelmed by directions, Squidward looks at a road map while driving right as Mrs. Puff begins to explain how reading a road map can help with navigation. An embarrassed Squidward quickly puts the map away, while "driving is only something a SpongeBob would do" and Squidward sees SpongeBob reading a road map and driving the wrong way, skidding against Squidward's boat and sending him out of control. Squidward's boat goes off an unfinished bridge and explodes. Due to another missing reel, lessons 30 to 52 are skipped.

Lesson #53: Proper Passenger Etiquette

An even more injured Squidward is driving with SpongeBob as his passenger. SpongeBob jumps in front of him blocking the road from view and tells Squidward that he is going to get his boating license. Squidward pushes SpongeBob away while Mrs. Puff says "Don't be a backseat driver." SpongeBob says that he "can drive from the backseat," grabs hold of Squidward's brace and acts like it's a steering wheel. It makes him go out of control but the boat doesn't crash. SpongeBob turns the air conditioning so cold that it's snowing, then so hot that fire comes out. SpongeBob sets the car in reverse and almost crashes into the very slow children from earlier. Squidward locks SpongeBob in the glove compartment

Lesson #54: Road Rage

Patrick passes Squidward, making him angry and leading him to speed up while Mrs. Puff explains: "Remember, rage relax and go elsewhere." SpongeBob says that he knows and he takes a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
