*They are a reference to finger puppets.
*Weirdley, SpongeBob had one of Wormy the day he turned into a butterfly, so he had to knit one overnight.
*SpongeBob uses them to represent friends he though the [[Wormy (Character)|monster]] ate.
*It is unknown if he has them on his hands anymore.
*On the right image, you can clear see that they don't have mouths.
