Plot
SpongeBob reads a scary book before bedtime. When he and Gary go to sleep, SpongeBob gets afraid in the dark. The next day he goes to work, when ever he sees darkness including blinking he over reacts to it. Mr. Krabs the told him to buy a night light. All is well until he discovered the other rooms inside his house are still covered by the darkness and then he rushed back to the store and bought some more lights. Patrick moves in to SpongeBob's house because he is scared of the dark but makes a hole in the wall letting in all of the darkness. SpongeBob and Patrick buy all sorts of light and probably stole some other lights which wakes Squidward up. One light has an M on it alerting Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. They find out there is no danger until a moth comes which Mermaid Man has been searching 57 years. SpongeBob traps it but it flies away with the top of his house. At the time that is now morning, Patrick runs to the sun for more light, but unfortunately there is too much of it and run back to earth.
Trivia/Goofs
- Tom Kenny's face appeared when SpongeBob was asked to go in the freezer.
- It took less than a minute for Patrick to reach the sun. the sun is 93,000,000 miles away, and would take years to reach it and go back to earth.
- When Patrick went to get the big ball of light, which was the sun, he came running back on fire. But it is impossible to have your body on fire if you are underwater.
- SpongeBob's house is shown to be several times larger than usual.
- In this episode, marks the first time Mermaid Man ever addresses SpongeBob by his name because usally they will call him kid.
- This is the second time Spongebob and Patrick have a sleepover.
- This is the second time SpongeBob had nightmares. The firs time he had a nightmare was on episode Krabs Borg.
- The title of the episode is similar to the Arthur episode called Night Fright.
