The idea of combining them in a two part theme was for fans to choose which one was a better theme, and SpongeBob SquarePants was chosen because of its popularity. Unlike most LEGO themes, this one includes a variety of interesting pieces, as the characters and sets are different from most of other themes. Also, many variations are seen, including the most famous: Squidward's head change from a standard minifigure head, to a special, more realistic head. After LEGO got the Disney franchise from Mega Bloks for 2010 and 2011, Mega Bloks announced they have a new deal with [[Nickelodeon]].
