Plot

Jim, the original fry cook visits the Krusty Krab, making Mr. Krabs pay more attention to him than SpongeBob, making SpongeBob depressed. Back then, the Krusty Krab had class and everything was great, even for Squidward (he had hair!). SpongeBob asks Jim if he would train him to be just as good as a fry cook as Jim. So Jim tries to train SpongeBob, but he does not do well. Jim then continues to get more attention because he missed.

So SpongeBob writes a resignation to Mr. Krabs because he thinks that Jim is taking the fry cook job back. But before he leaves, Jim sadly decides to tell SpongeBob the reason why he left the Krusty Krab. He left because Mr. Krabs refused to give him a raise; because when asked, Mr. Krabs just laughed as if it were a joke, which angered Jim. Jim then also says he's only there to visit, not take SpongeBob's job. He congratulates Mr. Krabs for finding a good fry cook. Jim wishes SpongeBob good luck, saying he'll be better when he quits the Krusty Krab--he calls it a dump--and then leaves. SpongeBob disagrees that his beloved place of employment is a "dump", but Mr. Krabs tells him it is indeed, "but she's my dump."

Trivia/Goofs

  • Patton Oswalt guest voices as Jim.
  • It is revealed that Spat has a built-in ballpoint pen.
  • Jim left the Krusty Krab because Mr. Krabs did not give him enough money.
  • The Dennis in this episode is a teal colored fish like in every other episode, but in The Sponge Who Could Fly, he was a shade of light brown.
  • This is the third time we've seen the inside of The Krusty Krab freezer.
  • This is second time we've seen a Krabby Patty in the bathroom. The first was in Just One Bite. The third time was in For Here or to Go (even though it was only the buns).
  • When SpongeBob puts heart shaped ketchup on the patty, it changes view when Squidward is talking, the heart is not filled, it's outlined.
  • The music playing in the background after SpongeBob eats the Jim Patty is the same music from the episode Ghost Host when SpongeBob plays the video that he calls "A journey in to self-awareness".
  • This episode was shown on the SpongeBob Friend or Foe DVD before it aired along with several other episodes.
  • Squidward used to have a full head of hair and he used to love his job before Jim left and SpongeBob took over.
  • The Krusty Krab looked like a fancy eatery when Jim still worked there.
  • After Spongebob eats Jim's patty and his heavenly dream he looks drunk.
  • "Raise" isn't in Mr. Krabs's dictionary.
  • Strangely, SpongeBob's resignation on toilet paper doesn't burn up on the grill.
