Plot

While preparing to audition at Bikini Bottom's new fry cook academy, SpongeBob discovers that his vision is blurry. So he visits the eye doctor and gets a brand-new pair of glasses! At first, SpongeBob thinks his glasses are neat. But then he has a bad dream about them and decides to stop wearing them! Can SpongeBob be a great chef without them?

A Page from the Book

That night SpongeBob had a nightmare. "It was awful, Gary!" he exclaimed when he awoke in the middle of the night. "It was round two of the tryouts. First my glasses fogged up at the grill so I couldn't see what I was cooking! Next my glasses fell into Chef Skillet's soup pot! Then one of the chefs pointed to a giant sign that read NO GLASSES ALLOWED!" SpongeBob cried. "Could that really happen, Gary?" "Meow?" "You're right. I don't want to find out. I can't wear my glasses tomorrow!"

Goof

There is a discontinuity goof in this book as SpongeBob has been seen wearing glasses in a few episodes. Jellyfishing, 20,000 Patties Under the Sea, and The Sponge Who Could Fly come to mind. Although, this book is not canon to the series.

Trivia

  • The title is based on the band Survivor's song "Eye of the Tiger".
