It starts with Patchy opening the book, 'The legend of SpongeBob SquarePants'. The story then follows what happens in the book. SpongeBob happily works in the Krusty Krab kitchen, when [[Squidward]] walks in with a large machine made to cook [[Krabby Patty]] instantly. Mr. Krabs asks Squidward what the machine is, and Squidward answers, "A miracle, a marvel! <br />
It'll cook Krabby Patties at a fabulous pace!" Squidward wanted to trade SpongeBob for the faster and cheaper machine. Mr. Krabs denies this and says that SpongeBob is the man for the job. SpongeBob then burst through the door, challenging the Machine to a cook off. After both have finished their first batch of patties, Squidward broke the machine's lever, causing it to malfunction. SpongeBob got the upper hand, with the Patty Gadget shooting out patties by 2s and by 3s until the machine exploded. As the crowd cheered, SpongeBob fell with exhaustion and he drops his spatula, making it seem like SpongeBob had died. The next scene shows a funeral with Squidward the saddest one there. Surprisingly, SpongeBob walks up to the grave and dances on it. This is when we discover that the funeral was for Squidward's machine, not for SpongeBob. Patchy then closes the book, ending the episode.<br />

Squidward has had enough of SpongeBob's incessant laughter, so he tricks his neighbor into believing that SpongeBob has a laugh-related illness. According to the made-up disease, if SpongeBob laughs one more time in the next 24 hours, his [[Laugh Box]] will explode and he will never laugh or giggle again. For the rest of the day, SpongeBob fights every single urge to chuckle. First, he sees Patrick trip over a banana peel, and runs away. Next, he sees that whoopee cushions are all over the town. Then, he buries himself to never be interrupted by a joke during the night. The next morning, SpongeBob discovers that he completely lost the ability to laugh. He tells Patrick that he has lost his laugh, but when Patrick looks inside SpongeBob and lights a match, he runs around in circles. Later, SpongeBob goes to the Krusty Krab to tell Mr. Krabs that he has lost his laugh. Mr. Krabs says that money always makes him laugh, but SpongeBob does not feel a tickle. <br />

SpongeBob consults Sandy, who is a scientist. Sandy gives SpongeBob books about laughter. SpongeBob reads the books, but still doesn't have any effect on his laugh box. Meanwhile, Squidward for the first time ever, has peace and quiet. Now utterly grief stricken, all SpongeBob can do is crying his eyes out, meaning more noise than ever. Squidward finally confesses to the sad sponge, as the crying has been more annoying than SpongeBob's giggles and after Squidward admits everything, SpongeBob laughs to see it has been a good joke and Squidward joins in the laughter. When Squidward says "You even fell for the thermometer in the onion boil routine!" SpongeBob immediately stops laughing, and goes inside his house. When Squidward laughs too much, he is taken to the hospital. Later, it is revealed that Squidward has lost his laugh and the doctor points out that someone has given him half of their laugh box. It isn't Patrick, Sandy or Mr. Krabs, it was SpongeBob! Squidward starts to laugh like SpongeBob and sprints out of the building, smashing the wall as well.<br />

At the Bikini Bottom Hospital, [[Dr. Gill Gilliam]] is there and he tells SpongeBob what they had to do. He warned SpongeBob that if he has an accident again, then he would go in the [[Iron Butt]].<br />

SpongeBob replies and says he will filter food and he shows then how he does it. Then Sandy and Patrick leave and try to make SpongeBob want to come outside. They do many things but it is unsuccessful. SpongeBob has 3 new friends that were revealed soon after Sandy and Patrick were tiring to get him outside. Their names were Chip, Penny and Used Napkin. After more attempts it is still unsuccessful.<br />

SpongeBob, planting flowers in his yard, finds two guys trying to put up a billboard. Knowing that Squidward is "annoyed" by it, he rushes over to the billboard workers and tries to tell them to stop doing that. Squidward notices what is going on, and yells at them. The billboard workers say "Excuse me," and finish a billboard saying "Composers wanted!" for the Bikini Bottom Orchestra. Excited, Squidward starts writing a musical piece. SpongeBob and Patrick show up in his room, and Squidward kicks them out. Patrick, who broke his butt, claims that he needs to go to the doctor, but does not have health insurance because he does not work, SpongeBob becomes a doctor, and tries to help Patrick, but it makes a lot of noise. Distracting him, Squidward opens his window and starts screaming them for the noise that they are making. This pretty much goes on for a while, with a clock shown to show us how much time has gone by. Finally, after hours of working, Squidward finally finishes his piece and rushes to the orchestra. He shows them the piece, and they accept it. <br />

Later on, Squidward walks on to the stage, bows, and starts conducting his piece. The orchestra members start to play it, but find SpongeBob being a doctor to Patrick by making noise again. Wondering why they are there, Squidward notices that he had drawn everything that they did on the piece of music! Squidward, frustrated, continues conducting, watching every little thing that SpongeBob and Patrick did earlier, eventually, Patrick flips in the air, and lands on Squidward. Squidward then gets on his feet, and yells at Patrick for being an idiot, but then notices the audience is still there. Turning around, he blushes, and the audience members start clapping, claiming "Now, that's what I call music!" SpongeBob then remarks that Squidward is a great composer, and Squidward bows for the final time.<br />

Sandy Cheeks is taking a trip somewhere, so she leaves SpongeBob and Patrick in charge of her pets. Their favorite one is a caterpillar named Wormy. They play with him for a long time. They do not want the day to end, because they want to play more with Wormy. SpongeBob gives him a 'best friend ribbon' and he and Patrick promise to come back the next morning. <br />

Overnight, Wormy turns into a butterfly. The following day, SpongeBob and Patrick find the butterfly in Wormy's jar. They let it go, and then concluded that it must have eaten Wormy (they do not realize that it actually ''is'' Wormy having gone through metamorphosis). They start panicking and set up traps, but they do not work, until SpongeBob blows a bubble to trap the butterfly. It goes out of Sandy's treedome and heads towards the Krusty Krab, where Squidward Tentacles is about to take a picture of Eugene H. Krabs with his first dollar. SpongeBob and Patrick go through the 'secret entrance', and hide inside the boat/counter. They tell them about the 'monster', but Squidward and Mr. Krabs think it is harmless. They look closer, and see a frightening buzzing creature (an extreme close-up of a horsefly), and run away. SpongeBob and Patrick think that the butterfly has eaten them, and warn Bikini Bottom. It is only ''then'' that the destruction starts, with a conflagration similar to The Great Fire of London. It is not until Sandy gets back that the terror/tragedy ends.<br />

In this funny episode Spongebob meets a new student in his Boating class, Flats. But when Flats threatens to "kick his butt", Spongebob panics. He tries to escape the big fish but isn't able to. He tries to open up to Mrs. Puff but she doesn't seem to get his point and is further misunderstood by Flats. He finally gets a chance to kick Spongebob's butt, but gets angry because his spongy form absorbs his hard punch. Thus, when at school Flats gets so tired at beating him up, he collapses as Spongebob gives a little speech about bullying. He raises his arm like people do when they are about to when they beat up people, and at that moment Mrs. Puff comes in and sees Spongebob's raised fist and collapsed Flats. Sandy is a very smart, talented and athletic squirrel born in the state of Texas, who moved to [[Bikini Bottom]] in the Pacific Ocean underneath Bikini Atoll in about 1998 because her job is experimenting underwater. She is also an inventor and loves science very much. She's one of the Big main Characters of the show although she made only 5 appearances in Season 3.<br />

She claims to be stronger than Larry and can even pull down gigantic ships and boats from the surface of the ocean as seen in "Sandy, SpongeBob, and the Worm." Pearl Krabs is [[Mr. Krabs]] Teenage Whale Daughter. She loves make-up, boys, fashion, using the word "coral" (which is what Bikini Bottom citizens say instead of "cool"), and all the things teenaged girls love. Her favorite band is called [[Boys Who Cry]]. She is often embarassed by her father Mr. Krabs. In one episode...[[The Chaperone]],[[SpongeBob]] takes her to her prom and embarrasses. Pearl's diet is not very well known because the only time we have seen her eat or drink is in the episode "Best Frenemies" when she was shown drinking a Kelp Shake. The kuddly Krab was like a teen paridise ans she enjoyed being the boss until it was cutting in on her social life. Pearl lives with her dad which means her mum has never been shown in the series. Pearl Krabs is [[Mr. Krabs]] Teenage Whale Daughter. She loves make-up, boys, fashion, using the word "coral" (which is what Bikini Bottom citizens say instead of "cool"), and all the things teenaged girls love. Pearl's diet is not very well known because the only time we have seen her eat or drink is in the episode "Best Frenemies" when she was shown drinking a Kelp Shake.
