Bert (Born February 28 1947) is Ernie's best friend and roommate on Sesame Street. The pair share the basement apartment at 123 Sesame Street. In contrast to the practical-joking, extroverted Ernie, Bert is serious, studious, and tries to make sense of his friend's actions. His own passions include reading Boring Stories, collecting paper clips and bottle caps (especially the rare Figgy Fizz), consuming oatmeal, and studying pigeons. While Ernie's best companion outside of Bert is Rubber Duckie, Bert has his pet pigeon, Bernice. True to his detail-oriented, organized mind, Bert is president of the National Association of W Lovers. Unfortunately for Bert, his nose has come off of his face on a number of occasions. He has a distinctive, bleating laugh.
While Ernie has appeared in many of scenes without Bert, Bert has not been seen without Ernie quite so often. Notable exceptions include the songs "Doin' the Pigeon," "The Subway," "Bert's Blanket," and "Stick Out Your Hand and Say Hello" with Rick Moranis, as well as occasional Muppet/Kid scenes, such as discussing emotions with John John.

Some of Bert's memorable moments include riding with Ernie in a plane in Follow That Bird, and interrupting The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland whenever it looked like the movie was becoming unsettling.

Bert's extended family includes his identical twin brother salesman Bart, infant nephew Brad, and several unseen relatives, including his Aunt Matilda, Uncle Bart (who gave Bert his first paper clip), and great-great grandfather Mountain Mike. The album Sesame Street Sing-Along! also refers to Bert's Uncle Louie, who lives on a farm.

Bert and Ernie were the only Muppets to appear in the Sesame Street Pilot Episodes, and they also hosted This Way to Sesame Street, a special sneak preview special promoting Sesame Street.

Play With Me Sesame
Bert was one of the hosts of Play With Me Sesame. On that show, he often played games on a computer, such as "Pigeon Patterns" and "Perfect Pairs" (the latter of which involved matching socks). He also showcased "oatmeal art" from kids.
Specials
In Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, Bert decided to give Ernie a soap dish for Christmas so that his Rubber Duckie would stop falling into the bottom of the bathtub. However, as he had no money, he made a trade at Hooper's Store, where he traded his paper clips for a soap dish. At the same time, Ernie decided to give Bert a cigar box to put his paper clips in, and traded his Rubber Duckie in order to get one. However, Mr. Hooper could see that neither of them was happy with trading their things, so he gave them their things back on Christmas Eve.
In The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years, Bert and Ernie introduced clips from Sesame Street.

In A Muppet Family Christmas, Ernie narrated a Christmas pageant, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, and got Bert to play Mama. They also conversed with Doc.

In Sesame Street: 20 and Still Counting, Bert and Ernie got a new video camera. Bert initially wanted to use the camera to make some pigeon videos, but Ernie wanted to use it to make some Sesame Street videos (Bert wonders, "Who wants to see Sesame Street on TV? We can look at it outside our window every day!"). However, Bert eventually liked the idea, and directed the footage.

Bert served as director in Elmopalooza.

Bert made an appearance in Elmo's World in The Street We Live On, wondering how he could get out of Elmo's World.

Performing Bert
Bert is a Hand-Rod Muppet, a puppet which is controlled by both hands. The puppeteer's dominant hand goes into Bert's head, operating his mouth, and at times, facial features. The puppeteer's less dominant hand controls the "arm rods", thin rods connected to Bert's hands.
Trivia
Bert made special appearances in two Muppet Show episodes: episode 102, (where he sang "Some Enchanted Evening"), and episode 518.
"I remember in the very beginning, we first built these characters and then we were trying to decide who should do which", said Jim Henson in the 1984 documentary, Henson's Place. "I remember trying Bert and Frank tried Ernie for a while, and then we settled on the present arrangement. I can't imagine doing Bert now, because Bert has become so much of a part of Frank ...In the beginning [of Sesame Street], Frank didn't like Bert. He felt Bert was too dull. But then after a while he realized that Bert's dullness was really a lot of fun, and he got into this dullness thing and turned it into this wonderful personality." Frank Oz said in the same program, "Bert is a very boring facet of myself... I don't think I would latch onto that one character as being me."
For the 2005-2006 season, Sesamstraat moved into new scenery. The scenery was introduced with a TV special. Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster and Elmo flew over to Holland for this special occasion. It was the first time the American characters visited the Dutch street.

SpongeBob: I didn't know your grandpa was a pirate, Mr. Krabs.

Mr. Krabs: Aye, I come from a whole family of pirates. Gramps used to say, "The Krabs Clan has been pirates for as long as we've had claws." And he wanted me to be a pirate, too.

He flashes back to when he was a baby. His grandpa was babysitting him on his pirate ship.

Baby Mr. Krabs: (chewing a rattle)

Grandpa Redbeard: (fighting pirate skeletons) One day, you'll be a plunderin' pirate just like yer ol' granddad here.

Mr. Krabs: So I bought me a ship, hired a crew.....

Crew member: Aaarrrrr!

Mr. Krabs: And for years, I drifted the high seas as a pirate. And booty did abound.

Crew members: (lined up to get paid)

Mr. Krabs: I started to notice a recurring fee. I just wasn't turning enough profit. So I fired me crew and sold me ship. ‘Twas also the last time I saw me granddad.

Grandpa Redbeard: Aaarrr, if it ain't me pirate grandson.

Young Mr. Krabs: Well, actually, Grandpa,...I just sold...

Grandpa Redbeard: Ya know how proud it makes me to see me only grandson continuin' in the family business.

Young Mr. Krabs: Yeah, uh, Grandpa what happened ...

Grandpa Redbeard: And well I'll be keepin' me eye on yer career to see how you progress. Just remember, the only rule in the Pirate's Code of Honor is: Never tell a lie.

The flash-back ends.

Mr. Krabs: For all he knows, the Krusty Krab is a pirate ship. If he were to find out the truth, it would break his salty, barnacle encrusted heart. Boo-hoo!

SpongeBob: Why don't we just make the Krusty Krab look like a pirate ship.

Mr. Krabs: Hm. Not a bad idea, boy. But we're gonna need a first rate crew.

SpongeBob: We've got Squidward. And I could get Patrick to join up.

Mr. Krabs: Yeah.

An hour or two pass.

Mr. Krabs: All right, me hearties! Get this one thing clear. If Grandpa Redbeard is ever gonna believe I'm a pirate, ye landlubbers are gonna have to pass for a pirate crew. Which means, I want you to look like a pirate. (puts a
bandana on Squidward) I want you to talk like a pirate.

SpongeBob: Who are thee? I mean...shiver me timbers!

Mr. Krabs: But most importantly, I want you to smell like a pirate. (smells Patrick) Very convincing, Patrick. And as me crew, you'll be makin' the Krusty Krab into an imitation pirate ship! Now, let's get this resturant ready to
sail!

A few minutes pass.

Mr. Krabs: (breaks the bar holding the tableabove the ground. He sticks it in the cash register for a steering wheel.)

Squidward: (starts painting the floor of the Krusty Krab black)

Grandpa Redbeard: Hm...you call this a pirate crew?. But more miserable jellyfishers than swarvy brime-skimmers.

SpongeBob: Um...

Grandpa Redbeard: Har, har, har! I'm just yankin' yer chain, boy! You look like a fine pirate crew.

Mr. Krabs: Oh.

Grandpa Redbeard: Now, let's see what this rusty old pelican can do! Let's sail!

SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward: Aye, sir!

SpongeBob: Ahoy, Captain! We be catchin' a mighty gale from the northeast.

Mr. Krabs: Indeed, indeed. And just look at the treacherous surf in our path!

Squidward: (hanging from the front of the ship and moving the pieces of cardboard he painted to make it look like waves)

'''Patrick''': (hanging from the window. He takes a drink of water and spits it on Grandpa Redbeard)

Mr. Krabs: Oh, that salty sea air be so thick, ya can almost taste it.

Grandpa Redbeard: Aye.

Mr. Krabs: I better take the helm and guide us to safer waters. Aye, that be a wicked soundin' wind out there, eh, Granddad? I said, "Aye, that be a wicked soundin' wind out there!"

SpongeBob: Oh!! (turns on a record player. It makes wind noises)

Mr. Krabs: There it is! That wind storm I mentioned earlier, it...and, aparrently me cabin is haunted as well.

Grandpa Redbeard: (picks up a hair net) What's a hair net doin' on a pirate ship? Every pirate knows that the majority of his daily nutrition comes from whatever hair or skin flakes fall off the coke and into the stew. This hair
net is deprivi' your crew of its essential nutrients.

Mr. Krabs: Uh, just a sec. (turns a video projector on) Look out, Grandpa! We're under attack! (The video projector shows a kraken emerging from the water.)

Kraken: Grrrrrr....

Grandpa Redbeard: Aye, look at the size of that beast.

Mr. Krabs: Not to worry, Granddad. (grabs a harpoon)

Grandpa Redbeard: Aha! That's the stuff!

Mr. Krabs: (throws harpoon) Yaahh! Uh... good toss, eh, Granddad?

SpongeBob: (catches the harpoon)

Mr. Krabs: Oh, nothing. Look! (The video projector shows a harpoon landing on the Kraken and knocking him underwater.)

Mr. Krabs: Wait a minute. What kinda disgusting, horrible abomination is dare invade me vessel? (looks over the rim of the ship)

Grandpa Redbeard: (points a cannon at Pearl)

Mr. Krabs: Oh, I, oh, I was just checkin' the cannon and makin' sure it was loaded. (The cannon collapses.)

Grandpa Redbeard: What is this?!

Mr. Krabs: I can explain.

Grandpa Redbeard: Krabby Patties: $2.00. Krusty Combo: $3.99! Gourmet: $1.95?!

Mr. Krabs: You see, Granddad? I'm no pirate. I'm just a lowly restaurant owner! I'm sorry I failed ye.

Grandpa Redbeard: Fail, me boy?! Ha, ha, ha! Why, I couldn't be more proud. Look at yer ludicrous prices! Now, that's real piracy. Ya done good, boy-o!

Mr. Krabs: Really? Thanks, Granddad!

Grandpa Redbeard: Why, thank yourself, lad! You created this dynasty on yer own! Now, I'll be takin' me lead, boy!

Mr. Krabs: Goodbye, Granddad! What an honest man!

Grandpa Redbeard: (steals Mr. Krabs's money) I hope ya don't mind, boy-o, but I helped myself to a little bit of yer booty! (laughs)

Mr. Krabs: I knew I got me talent from someone! (laughs)

''' Lawrence Larry Lobster''' is a lobster who usually hangs out at [[Goo Lagoon]]. He also works there as a lifeguard as seen on episode [[SpongeGuard on Duty]].
It was proven that he is red because he took too many tanning pills. He is always at [[Goo Lagoon]] and he has many friends. He is also the head of the lifesavers and is a weightlifting and swimming champion. It makes [[SpongeBob SquarePants|SpongeBob]] jealous. Larry is the 10th and last major character of the show. Larry's first appearance was in ripped pants. He is not to be confused with the snail [[Lary]].

==Personality==
Larry often seems to be arrogant and kind. He is happy at times and is always proud to save the [[Bikini Bottom]] citizens from trouble in [[Goo Lagoon]]. In the episode, [[Party Pooper Pants (Episode)|Party Pooper Pants]] he likes to party. Because of his friendly and nice attitude, Larry doesn't really have any enemies, but in the episode [[Bubble Buddy (Episode)|Bubble Buddy]], [[The Bubble Buddy|The Bubble Buddy]] was accused of criticizing Larry and some of his friends, saying that they had 'Bubble Butts'. In the end of [[A Life in a Day (Episode)|A Life in a Day]], it seems as if SpongeBob is his new enemy. Larry's birthday is January 8 1978.

==Looks==
Larry is a buff lobster who works out to get his physique good. Because of his charming looks, he attracts many female creatures. Larry is an average height because he is much taller than most of his friends, except [[Don the Whale]] who is the same size. Larry would have originally been blue because real lobsters are blue lobsters and are only red when they are cooked. He has blue Speedos and sunscreen on his nose when he is a lifeguard. In later episodes, his tail is more shown and he wears more green in his shorts. He was shrunk in the episode: [[Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy IV]], thus making him even smaller then [[Sheldon J. Plankton|Plankton]].

==Interests==
In the episode: [[SpongeGuard on Duty]], it is revealed that he loves to go to the tanning salon. He also says that he loves being with the girls and being a great lifeguard. In the episode [[Shanghaied (Episode)|Shanghaied]], it is revealed he likes to run while listening or playing to music. This is backed up because in the episode: [[Band Geeks]] he joined [[Squidward Tentacles|Squidward's]] band to beat [[Squilliam Fancyson]]. In some episodes, it is shown that Larry likes volleyball and is good at it too. It was revealed in [[A Life in a Day (Episode)|A Life in a Day]] that Larry likes to live life to the fullest and be a daredevil but that ended after SpongeBob and [[Patrick Star|Patrick]] got him ripped to shreds at [[Ripper's Reef]].

==Loves & Fears==
At times Larry can be scared like in the episodes [[Shanghaied (Episode)|Shanghaied]], he gets scared by the [[Flying Dutchman]]. Also in [[SpongeBob Meets the Strangler (Episode)|SpongeBob Meets the Strangler]] he is very afraid to see the [[TattleTale Strangler]]. In the episode: [[That's No Lady (Episode)|That's No Lady]], he was attracted to [[Patricia]]: Patrick in disguise... Also, in [[SpongeGuard on Duty]], he has some dates. He loves to ride scary amusement park rides, like in [[Roller Cowards]], where he makes SpongeBob and Patrick smell him.
He also has a fear of his beachers getting ripped to shreds in [[Ripper's Reef]], and SpongeBob and Patrick get Larry ripped to shreds in the process, in [[A Life in a Day]]. It is also very possible that he is in love with [[Sandy Cheeks|Sandy]], after [[Ripped Pants]].

==Trivia==
*It was revealed in the episode [[Band Geeks (Episode)|Band Geeks]], Larry almost died because his heart gave out from taking tanning pills. He claims that, "some guy in an ambulance", saved him.
*Larry is the only known crustacean who is not a crab or shrimp.
