At the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs rushes in shouting like a maniac. He tells of the return of (fishing) hooks. SpongeBob is confused, and Mr. Krabs tells him that he should not go near a hook, or he will be brought up further than the surface and he will be eaten or sold at a gift shop. Patrick tells SpongeBob that the carnival has come to town and insists SpongeBob to come with him. He agrees, assuming that he's not quitting work but just taking a break. Much to SpongeBob's horror, though, the "carnival" is actually the set of hooks to Mr. Krabs warned everyone about. Patrick deliberately hooks himself. SpongeBob cries, until he sees Patrick again. He demands to know what happened, and he said that he floated down before he reached the surface and it is fun. Mr. Krabs catches them, and tells them off. However, the next day, Patrick persuades SpongeBob to play 'hooky' again. As a result, Patrick is taken up to the surface. Then, SpongeBob literally gets hooked, and now he thinks ''he's'' going to get pulled up to the surface as well. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that the only way to get the hook off is to take off his clothes right in front of Pearl and her friends, who laugh very hard. SpongeBob gets so upset that he cries out loud and runs back to his house. Whilst he is running, it then turns out that ''Squidward'' hooked SpongeBob in order to teach him a lesson; both Squidward and Mr. Krabs laugh sadistically. Meanwhile, Patrick is dropped off by a bus while trapped in a tuna can. He asks "Does somebody have a can opener?" and the episode ends.

*The events in this episode are a metaphor for skipping school or work. This is shown by SpongeBob skipping work to see the hooks and getting "hooked" by one the next day ("hooky" is a slang term for truancy).

==Plot==
SpongeBob watches a movie called "Night of the Robot," and thinks everyone in his presence is a robot. Before going back to his post, he sees Mr. Krabs asking his radio to play him a song, strange dancing, saying he feels "recharged" and constantly saying beep-boop-bop-beep-bop-beep over the phone. So Squidward and SpongeBob become paranoid and try to get the "poop" out of Mr. Krabs reading a book called "[[How to Torture]]." They try to ask him where the real Mr. Krabs is, but Mr. Krabs truthfully says that ''he'' is him. So to interrogate him they destroy his valuables, but suddenly he bursts out crying, and mentioning love, and laughs, the three things robots can't do in the movie. So Squidward asks how the movie ended. SpongeBob states it was only their imagination. Feeling that he'll get in trouble for keeping Mr. Krabs hostage, he says "Look, time to feed Gary!" and runs out the door. Then, the episode ends with Mr. Krabs yelling "Squidward!"

Squidward throws a bubble gum wrapper on SpongeBob's lawn. When SpongeBob discovers it, he asks Squidward if he wants it back. However, Squidward tells SpongeBob he can have it. However, SpongeBob now tells him on the Shell Phone, and Squidward has his long and final persuasion to give the paper to SpongeBob "''Take it SpongeBob, yes, take it please, I promise you no matter how much I may beg, and plead, and cry, don't give that paper back to me...Ever!''" and SpongeBob agrees to confirm his promise. Squidward is about to play ''Mary Had a Little Lamb'' but SpongeBob is laughing about all the fun he is thinking about that he's going to soon have. He uses the paper to make a cape, pirate patch, origami, etcetera. Squidward decides to prove to SpongeBob that paper is not fun.

Squidward laughs and enjoys his own time reading ''Boring Science Digest'', taking a bath, and drawing art. While drawing, Squidward accidentally paints himself having fun with a piece of paper. When he breaks it, the Squidward painting's mouth is open and invisibly cries by his death. Squidward watches him have lots and lots of fun until the ''Mary Had A Little Lamb'' duet.

Squidward tries to get it back but SpongeBob keeps his promise. Squidward trades in everything back, and finally his own shirt-cloth and SpongeBob cannot help and it decides to break his promise. Squidward tries to have fun with the paper but cannot, he traded everything for the worthless piece of paper for nothing and soon Patrick took the paper from Squidward and uses it to put his gum on it and Patrick comes over to SpongeBob to play.

==Plot==
After SpongeBob captures a jellyfish in Jellyfish Fields, it does not want SpongeBob to go away. SpongeBob is at first hesitant of taking it home with him, but he later brings it home as a pet. He shows it to an uninterested Squidward, and the two then go into SpongeBob's house.

Inside SpongeBob's house, the jellyfish and SpongeBob dance to pop music, and the boombox's friction causes Squidward's house to shake. SpongeBob goes to bed twelve hours later in the nighttime. The jellyfish, on the other hand, does not want to go to bed and it and SpongeBob fight whether the boombox should be on or not. SpongeBob puts it on a leash and goes to bed. During the night, the jellyfish finds the other jellyfish outside the bedroom window, and it invites them to party in SpongeBob's house.

The next morning, SpongeBob wakes up and notices that his pet jellyfish is missing. He then looks for it. He finally settles downstairs and finds a lot of jellyfishes partying. SpongeBob, angry, tries to get the jellyfishes out his house, but nothing he tried works. Squidward tries to horribly play his clarinet to get rid of the jellyfishes, but they sting him and break his clarinet. SpongeBob heads out with the CD player, but the jellyfishes pull it back toward them. They all pull on it, and the CD player then collapses and breaks. The jellyfishes become angry and sting SpongeBob. Him and Gary rush to hide at the top of the house.

On top of the house, SpongeBob finds out that the jellyfishes calm down Gary's eyes clash together and create a musical beat. SpongeBob then heads to Jellyfish Fields with Gary, who continues his musical beat, and the jellyfishes follow them. SpongeBob and Jellyfish Fields' nature make music which the jellyfishes enjoy. Once the jellyfishes dance to the music they created, SpongeBob and Gary head back home.

==Plot==
SpongeBob has a dream that he is in a hot rod and he got his driver's license. Mrs. Puff also appears in this dream and tears out SpongeBob's license, and right after he is somehow 'propelled' out of his own dream cloud, he sees his real self. He realizes that he has no dream to go to, until he sees Gary's dream cloud. He jumps in, frightening Gary. He is in a vast library, and Gary appears to be humanoid and can speak English. SpongeBob goes out of Gary's dream cloud and into Patrick's. He is on a kiddie ride that costs 25 cents per ride. SpongeBob explains to him that in a dream, he can do whatever he wants. He demonstrates by turning into a skyscraper and making a million identical copies of himself. Patrick says he is already satisfied, and SpongeBob goes out of Patrick's dream cloud. Patrick then complains that he has run out of quarters. (This could be a hint towards Patrick's empty-mindedness.) Next, he goes to Squidward's dream cloud and sees what is going on. He is performing a clarinet solo in a theater, set in the 1700s because of the theme. He distracts the king and Squidward stops, and the king growls at him for not playing. After this happens several times, Squidward gets angry and snaps his clarinet, but SpongeBob saves him by turning into a clarinet.

It produces no sound, but SpongeBob just sings, and everybody applauds. SpongeBob goes to a different dream, this time Sandy's. They are skydiving, and they have to land on a painted target. SpongeBob asks if it is safe, and Sandy says it is safe so long as he has a parachute. However, SpongeBob misinterprets this, and Sandy lands hard in a truck. SpongeBob decides to stop invading other's dreams. He goes to what he thinks is Mr. Krabs' dream, but actually is Pearl's dream. After realizing this, he immediately goes to Mr. Krabs' dream, where he's fishing money. SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs manage to catch Moby Dollar, but it escapes and SpongeBob is shot out of Mr. Krabs' dream cloud and into Plankton's. Plankton, in his dream, is bigger than the buildings and has laser-eyes. SpongeBob, misinterpreting this to be a nightmare, pokes him with a pin and Plankton deflates, and wakes up. SpongeBob then goes back to his own dream cloud, where everyone's angry faces appear and start spinning around him. When he wakes up, everyone is in his house complaining that he has ruined all of their dreams, until Patrick comes up and asks "Does anyone have a quarter?" because of his dream.

==Plot==
At the [[Bikini Bottom Mall]] (the same from [[Money Talks (Episode)|Money Talks]] and [[Whale of a Birthday (Episode)|Whale of a Birthday]]), SpongeBob and Patrick are wearing Best Friend shirts with arrows that point east and west, respectively. Before they can buy them, a lady comes next to SpongeBob and Patrick thinks that the lady is SpongeBob's new best friend. Patrick cries and whimpers a lot while SpongeBob tries to explain. Soon, another lady comes next to Patrick. SpongeBob and Patrick are so freaked out because their Best Friend shirt arrows point to ladies.

They rip up the shirts even though they do not own them and are soon kicked out of the Bikini Bottom Mall and land in a War Fort. It is discovered there that Fish are battling for something (we never know), and Patrick thinks it's about cleanliness and filth resistance. Patrick wants SpongeBob to join him to have filthy germs and dirtiness and never wash again. However, SpongeBob likes clean and soap. Patrick gets very angry at SpongeBob for not joining him to have filth, so he decides to not be his best friend.

At the battleground, SpongeBob and Patrick fight in a cleanliness plight. SpongeBob tries to make Patrick clean including a nail polish, soap bubble water, and brushing teeth. Patrick tries to make SpongeBob dirty by picking noses and place boogers, cover him in dirty things, and give him a really automatic atomic dirty underwear wedgies. They soon roll into the Krusty Krab and SpongeBob hides in the kitchen. Patrick finds him in the kitchen too, and uses his Krabby Patties as squeaky boots while SpongeBob throws onions at him. The battle finally ends at the left of the Krusty Krab. Patrick has a entire one ton garbage can while SpongeBob inflates and increases his size to blow clean soap bubbles at him.

At the same time, Patrick becomes so squeaky clean and SpongeBob comes very dirty. After muttering, they soon like this because it will take a massive amount of cleaning/getting dirty to get them back to being their old selves. Soon, SpongeBob tells the War soldiers that they can be whatever they want in a long speech. Soon, the soldier teams decide to end the war and do "manly" activities like , play hockey, and football or knitting fluffy sweaters.

*This is the first episode where [[SpongeBob]] and [[Patrick]] battled each other with weapons. They will get more violent in [[Sand Castles in the Sand (Episode)|Sand Castles in the Sand]].

==Plot==
At the Krusty Krab, an overweight fish orders a [[Monster Krabby Patty]]. This shocks SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs and the customers. So [[Hans]] drop the Monster Patty on the grill and SpongeBob tries to flip it, but his spatula (named Spat) accidentally explodes and catches fire. SpongeBob starts hysterically screaming and crying everywhere he goes, but after several minutes of uncontrollable crying, nothing happens. He feels he is unable to work without Spat, and Spat feels the same way, so Spat checks himself into the hospital, with SpongeBob following him. He sees him in the bed and SpongeBob goes through a flashback of what they have done together. Then the doctor tells SpongeBob that he should get another spatula to replace the broken spatula and SpongeBob becomes depressed.

He leaves the hospital, believing that nothing else could replace Spat, until he sees a high-tech device called: ''LE SPATULA''. SpongeBob gives into temptation and trades everything he has, including his pants, for his replacement spatula.

After purchasing his replacement spatula, SpongeBob goes back into the Krusty Krab and attempts to flip patties after Mr. Krabs sees the replacement spatula. ''LE SPATULA'' runs away because it does not like to be filthy (thereby defeating the purpose of a spatula) or SpongeBob himself. All the customers are upset with their inability to get their food, and SpongeBob goes back to the hospital. However, before he gets to see Spat, the doctor tells him it is too late. He then watches a spatula die, but then he finds out that the spatula he just saw was not his spatula; his spatula was well patched up and taken to the Infirmary. The doctor had told SpongeBob that he did not get an acting role, not that Spat had died.

SpongeBob is delighted that Spat is back cooking Krabby Patties. Now reunited, Spat and SpongeBob still have to flip the Monster Patty, but this time, instead of Spat exploding again, SpongeBob's arms burst into flames. SpongeBob starts laughing, and the episode ends.

*When SpongeBob says that there's only one spatula for him, this is not true. In the book called SpongeBob DetectivePants: The Case of the Missing Spatula, SpongeBob had a different spatula named "Flipper" though it's not considered canon.
*This episode was originally called "All Those Tears", but it was later changed to "All That Glitters".
*When SpongeBob breaks the fourth wall, it is a parody of a line from Shakespeare's play "The Merchant of Venice".

==Plot==
Squidward appears from his house to take a ride on his bike to work. SpongeBob and Patrick are in a beanstalk tree house speaking in code about Squidward going to work and can be heard giggling. Squidward rides over to them, and begins to mock their secret language, but SpongeBob says that they cannot tell him about the secret language because he is not a member of the club. Squidward asks, What does it take to be a member, besides being a moron? SpongeBob tells Squidward that he could not even get into the club if he tried. Squidward says that he happens to be a member of over 20 different exclusive clubs all across the sea bottom. Patrick says that Squidward will definitely not fit in. Squidward says that they should be begging him to join the club and as such begins to climb the beanstalk. He gets inside the club only to find that the room is very small, and that is the type of fitting in SpongeBob and Patrick was referring to. He is then told that they have been stuck in the club for three days. SpongeBob and Patrick decide to initiate Squidward anyhow, and sing him the welcome song.

Squidward gets annoyed and tries to get out of the club by pulling on a beanstalk branch, causing the whole tree house to go flying into the air, landing in a kelp forest, presumably in the middle of nowhere. As it is flying through the air, a couple has seen the club house, the male fish says to the female "make a wish honey" as the tree house flies overhead.

The boys emerge from the tree house. Patrick and SpongeBob are excited because of the ride, but Squidward is frantically pacing and screaming about the fact that he is lost with SpongeBob and Patrick. He states "Why must every 11 minutes of my life be filled with misery? Why?"

Squidward says that this is the end, but SpongeBob tries to reassure him by saying that they will be fine if they stick together and that they are fine because they have the magic conch shell. Patrick tells SpongeBob to ask it something, so he pulls the cord on the shell while asking if he will ever get married, to which the conch replies maybe someday.

Squidward thinks the idea is absurd, and that it is just a stupid toy. The boys are angered by Squidward's comment, and SpongeBob asks the shell what they must do to be rescued. The response: Nothing. Due to this, Patrick and SpongeBob proceed to sit down with blank looks on their faces, literally doing nothing. Squidward abandons them after mocking them again... He finds himself lost in the forest, until he sees a light at the end of the kelp tunnel. After running towards it, he ends up right where he began, which means that if he had been running in a straight line as was alluded to, that he would have had to run all the way around the world.

This leads to Squidward setting up a semi-camp, starting a fire and trying to grill a bug on a frying pan. Where he got the pan is not specified. He continues to mock the two of them for listening to the conch, saying that the magic conch tells them nothing "as if the answers to all your problems will fall right out of the sky!" At the same time, a [[Picnic Supply Inc.]] plane falling out of the sky that must drop the load: a pre-assembled picnic table and umbrella, tent, and a very large supply of various foods. SpongeBob and Patrick immediately begin to dig into all the food. Just so he can have food, Squidward apologizes for his selfishness but SpongeBob says that he should ask the Magic Conch what he should eat. The conch is apparently mad at Squidward for his prior remarks and tells him he cannot have anything to eat. After many tries, his head starts to morph, and grow red in anger.

Suddenly, a park ranger appears. He sees the boys' conch and lets everyone know he is a club member. He asks the conch what they should do now, to which the reply is..... "Nothing." The three of them flop down into the blank look once again; Squidward weakly joins them and, closing the episode, says "All hail the magic conch!"

==Plot==
SpongeBob walks outside and admires the peacefulness of the neighborhood. Suddenly, he loudly sets up a bubblestand outside of his pineapple in order to teach others how to blow bubbles like he does. This annoys Squidward, who requests SpongeBob to be quiet. SpongeBob slows down and eventually finishes his stand. For 25 cents per lesson, he attempts to teach Patrick some of his tricks, showing him the technique that allows him to blow bubbles in various shapes and sizes.
One elephant-shaped bubble (Which Patrick calls a giraffe) floats into Squidward's window, thus attracting his foul temper. An angry Squidward marches out and attempts to blow a bubble that will upstage SpongeBob without using the technique, but he fails. He tries this over and over again, while SpongeBob and Patrick try to remind him of the technique. Finalley he gives in and sarcastically imitates the technique. He succeeds and creates a bubble so large it floats away as SpongeBob and Patrick cheer. Filled with pride, Squidward goes back into his house and plays the clarinet. However, the large bubble returns and engulfs his house completely. It floats toward the surface as he plays his clarinet. Suddenly, the bubble bursts, sending his house crashing to the sea-bottom. Squidward struggles to play his clarinet afterward.

SpongeBob and Patrick board a bus to get home from [[Glove World]], a glove-themed amusement park, they have apparently gotten on the wrong one and head off a large cliff. The cliff leads to a sort of aphotic zone called [[Rock Bottom (City)|Rock Bottom]], inhabited by anglerfish-like creatures. Patrick gets on a bus home but accidentally leaves SpongeBob behind. After several unsuccessful attempts to get on the bus, he heads to the bus station and gets in a very long line. By the time he gets to the front, he finds out that the last bus to leave for the night is already gone, and he's stuck there until morning. He gets scared by a raspberry sound coming from nowhere, and he dashes back to the cliff. The raspberry sound's maker reveals himself to be a friendly-looking anglerfish creature, which has SpongeBob's balloon from Glove World. The creature blows up the balloon, ties it to SpongeBob's wrist, and allows him to float up the cliff and back to [[Bikini Bottom]]. Unfortunately, Patrick thinks SpongeBob is still in Rock Bottom and goes back, causing bad luck for Patrick!

SpongeBob is watching his favorite show, ''The Adventures of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy''. He has entered a competition, and is listening eagerly to see if he's won the mystery prize. The announcer declares the winner as "SpringBoob SquirePin". However, it is actually SpongeBob SquarePants, as the announcer did not "pronounce it correctly".

SpongeBob has won the "conch signal", a conch whose noise is a signal which Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy respond to. However, SpongeBob constantly sounds it in order to get them to do favors.

Annoyed, Barnacle Boy shouts at SpongeBob, who says that he just wants to spend time with them. They spend time together, with SpongeBob dressed as a superhero. In the street, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy see an old man, who was once ''[[Atomic Flounder|The Atomic Flounder]]''. SpongeBob attacks the old man but is stopped.

At a restaurant, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy ask SpongeBob to find their theme song on a jukebox. They run outside and hope to escape from SpongeBob, but get trapped by ''The Dirty Bubble''. SpongeBob pops the [[Dirty Bubble]] with a pencil tip, saving the day. Then SpongeBob, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy sing in Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy's [[Invisible Boat Mobile]].

==Plot==
At the Krusty Krab, Squidward gives SpongeBob an order for a Krabby Patty. After making the patty, it begins to "move" and makes its way towards the front door. Mr. Krabs pulls Plankton off of the burger and sends him back to the Chum Bucket. Krabs explains that Plankton is his arch-competitor, and has been trying to steal the Krabby Patty's secret formula for years.
That night, after the Krusty Krab closes, Plankton tries to convince SpongeBob that they are friends, and that as such SpongeBob should give him a [[Krabby Patty]]. SpongeBob refuses and runs back home, but Plankton promises that SpongeBob will "hand deliver a Patty" to him.

Later that night, Plankton enters SpongeBob's head through a pore and makes his way to
[[SpongeBob's Brain House|SpongeBob's Brain]]. He attaches a mind control device to the brain and bends SpongeBob to his will, forcing him to walk to the Krusty Krab, get a Krabby Patty, and bring it to the Chum Bucket's Laboratory.
Plankton shows SpongeBob his computer, which can display the Ingredients of whatever he places in a nearby bowl. As a demonstration, he drops a piece of seaweed into the machine, to which Karen complies: 50% sea, 50% weed. Before he can force SpongeBob to drop the Krabby Patty in, SpongeBob begins a sorrowful ode to the Patty describing its tastiness. A hungry Plankton leaps onto the burger, bounces off its bun and falls into the bowl, and says "Oh Boy" before the computer displays his components (1% evil, 99% hot gas) on the computer screen. With Plankton stuck inside the computer, SpongeBob walks home as the episode closes.
